The photoshoot for Mid-Autumn Festival was scheduled for the afternoon. The sunlight was exceptionally crisp and bright, warming the skin, yet a brisk ambient breeze kept conditions relatively comfortable. For this session, I prepared an outfit steeped in rich Eastern fantasy motifs: a palette anchored in white, gold, and black with subtle red and blue accents, yielding rich textural tiers. To match the character design, I wore a long golden wavy synthetic wig, while the makeup emphasized deepened crimson eyeshadow and classic red lips, elongating the outer corners of the eyes to sharpen my gaze.

Slipping into the garment, the most visceral sensation was the snug constriction of the black leather waist cincher. While this design sculpted a razor-thin waistline, sustaining it across hours of shooting demanded regulated breathing. The gilded totems and embroidered crests along the fabric caught the sun with brilliant texture, the white weave reflecting a gentle sheen. Paired with the Folding fan prop, subtle angle shifts unlocked entirely fresh compositional moods.

The first sequence was framed across an open lawn. Kneeling seiza-style on the grass, I raised the open folding fan overhead to display the hemline patterns while utilizing the wide fan surface to anchor visual balance in the upper half of the composition. The photographer adopted a low upward angle, framing the upturned eaves of ancient architecture in the background. As my pose extended, the black strapping and gold thigh band on my right leg peeked through, injecting an edgy, martial contrast into the silhouette.

The second setup transitioned to the edge of an elevated platform. Here, physical poise had to command the entire frame—crossing my legs with fingers subtly curled to maintain a resolute presence. The sun hit diagonally from the rear, stinging the eyes slightly, but I kept them steadily open to catch that golden halo rimming the hair strands. Leaning against a stone column softened the mood: closing the fan in hand with a composed, gentle gaze highlighted the fine details of the costume and hair ornaments. The intricate headdress, adorned with scarlet braided cords and swinging tassels, resonated wonderfully with the festive spirit of Mid-Autumn Festival.

Throughout the shoot, I enjoyed twirling and calibrating the folding fan to find the optimal angle for the lens. The degree to which the ribs unfolded profoundly steered the frame—fully fanned out for commanding boldness, half-closed for guarded elegance. We communicated constantly regarding movement range and light direction. With so many intricate details in the garment and wig, continuous adjustments were made between takes. The resulting play of chiaroscuro thoroughly rewarded the sunny exposure and physical exertion, delivering a cohesive and grounded visual statement.
