[Cartethyia Cosplay] Cool-toned Elf in Wuthering Waves: Ethereal Chill in a Blue and White Sea of Flowers

This look for Cartethyia actually took quite a while to prepare before studio shooting, mainly aiming to restore that airy yet ethereal chill temperament. Today I'm sharing a set of photos, picking four angles I personally prefer for the camera, while chatting about some shooting details and styling ideas behind this project.

Starting with styling, the black-and-white paneled color blocks coupled with that touch of wave-blue floating veil form the visual highlight of this garment. To better present this drape, I chose a relatively lightweight and layered material for the veil. The metal ring decorations and shoulder buckles on the top were crafted with great texture, requiring repeated adjustments to tightness when wearing; otherwise, the upper body could easily look bulky. The blue forehead ornament combined with translucent heterochromatic long elf ears gave the overall silhouette a very delicate look in front of the lens. Although the black neck collar strap was somewhat stuffy during shooting, it was essential for creating the character's crisp body lines. I handled the blonde wig quite delicately, braiding fine pigtails on both sides to ensure ample volume and clear texture from the front. For Anime-style makeup and styling, clean cool blue tones dominated; light blue contact lenses were worn to echo the character's icy traits, paired with refined lip makeup to make the skin complexion appear translucent within the cool-toned visuals.

For the shooting scene, we chose a white-and-blue flower sea background where abundant icy-blue hydrangea clusters, white Roman pillars, and openwork birdcages together built a space filled with purity and romance. The floor was covered with a white plush carpet, while the highly reflective floor material beneath brought water-like reflections, making the entire shot immensely translucent. Regarding props, I prepared a matching plush doll and light-colored flower bouquet. These two props were crucial in Cosplay photography because this outfit lacked weapons in hand; without prop support, hand movements in empty framing would feel constrained and awkward. The plush doll added playful personality and interactivity, while the bouquet further elevated the overall soft, romantic atmosphere.

Regarding posing and composition, the photo standing with a bouquet in Photo 3 is my personal top recommendation for cover. Standing on a white minimalist stool atop a raised platform beautifully stretched body lines upward, where the barefoot look paired with a gold anklet at the ankle added a warm, bright touch to the cool-toned visuals, wonderfully displaying the character's unconstrained agility. When sitting on the stool in Photo 1, I deliberately held the plush doll at shoulder level to balance the visual void on the right side, making frame proportions more harmonious. Photo 2 and Photo 4 featured sitting and kneeling postures; these two angles focused primarily on showing the skirt's fluffiness and costume tailoring contours while conveying a softer, lazier emotion, where the blue veil spread on the floor folded naturally to create fantastic visual extension, merging seamlessly into the background flower sea.

During shooting, I paid special attention to eye expression because elf ears and forehead ornaments easily capture visual focus; if the gaze is unfocused, the character appears dull. I tried my best to maintain eye focus and intensity, keeping emotions aligned with the character itself. For lighting, we used a soft, cold white light source for large-area fill light, giving skin texture a clean, translucent look without color cast. Shooting a vast blue-and-white scene like this heavily tests post-production color balance—post-processing needs to ensure tone unity without looking flat, so I intentionally retained the subtle glow of environmental diffuse reflection during editing, fully integrating the person with the set rather than making it look like a harsh cut-out composite. Overall, this photoshoot was a great studio experience—it not only restored the character's ethereal chill temperament but also unlocked more styling possibilities through details and props.
