The overall color scheme of this costume is primarily white and blue. To showcase optimal texture on camera, significant effort went into fabric selection during pre-production. The cuffs of the white long-sleeved top are spliced with delicate black lace edging. On the overlapping blue fabrics at the waist and shoulders, gold lines outline distinct geometric motifs, complemented by blue tassels cascading from the waist that generate graceful dynamic movement whether walking or sitting. The accessories on the chest and collar are relatively elaborate, requiring meticulous alignment when putting them on to ensure visual symmetry and balance.
The hat is an exceptionally eye-catching element of this styling. The broad white brim flatters the facial silhouette, while black striping along the brim and a blue cross emblem on the front add focal points amidst simplicity. To harmonize with the overarching color tone, I opted for vivid blue contact lenses; golden wavy curls cascaded naturally across my shoulders and sides, creating a striking contrast against the white-and-blue garments. Slipping on black gloves and holding the long-handled staff adorned with ornate golden accents instantly brought out the character's atmosphere for this Phoebe Cosplay.
The interior set design also needed to align with the mood. A vintage brown leather sofa served as the primary visual anchor of the frame, its tufted leather surface reflecting a delicate sheen under studio lighting. I scattered several books of varying thicknesses across and around the sofa to add everyday lifestyle realism. The background featured a grid window with dark wooden framing draped with white curtains on both sides, making the entire space appear more visually open and translucent. Framing the shot from outside the view, I utilized natural light filtering through the window alongside indoor fill lighting to define crisp contours for the subject.
While shooting this series, I experimented with two distinct postures. The first was sitting upright on the sofa with hands clasped over my chest, legs gently bent, with one foot naturally lowered and the other stepping Bare legs onto books laid across the floor. This posture is composed and restrained, wonderfully highlighting front garment details and an overall sense of dignity. The second pose had me leaning back against the sofa with staff in hand, crossing my legs over a stack of books; utilizing a slightly high angle, this not only visually elongated the leg line with Bare legs, but also infused the frame with a touch of languid nonchalance. The tactile sensation of bare feet stepping on books and the friction between gloves and the staff had to be subtly felt during the shoot, allowing body language to appear natural rather than rigid.
A truly great Anime cosplay work relies not merely on stacking costumes and props, but on harmonizing emotional expression with body language. In preparing for this shoot, I repeatedly refined the magnitude of my poses and the focus of my gaze, hoping to convey the character's unique disposition through still imagery. From hair/makeup styling to wardrobe coordination, down to lighting and scene staging, every phase required investing immense time to polish. Looking at the final results, all the pre-production preparations and on-set coordination felt completely worthwhile for this Wuthering Waves project under the Wuthering Waves Creator Incentive.
