[Komeiji Koishi cosplay] Touhou Project: Koishi's wooden cabin afternoon

This time shooting Komeiji Koishi's photoshoot, I chose a wooden cabin scene, wanting to restore that feeling of Koishi drifting between reality and fantasy. The wig is a light-blue color, trimmed with layers to make the overall look fluffier and more natural. For makeup, green contact lenses were intentionally used; the eye makeup wasn't drawn too heavy, but the blush was applied heavier than usual, wanting to highlight her unique temperament that seems innocent yet somewhat neurotic. The lipstick chose a slightly darker vintage red, which can look a bit radiant under natural light without being too jarring.
In terms of clothing, this dress features many layers of black tulle and lace, with all edges using bright green binding. The layered ruffles on the sleeves are actually very difficult to maintain and will tangle together with the slightest movement, requiring an assistant to constantly help me tidy them up during the shoot. The bodice pattern is waist-cinched, trying to keep the outline looking clean while maintaining a sense of gorgeousness. The white bow and lace decoration on the hat are custom-made; to restore the original design, a large string of purple flower wreaths is also hung on the right side, and although there were some bumps while walking, the color contrast is very nice. Although this outfit has low skin exposure, through these intricate details, I hope to fully bring out the dress feel of the character.
The environment of the wooden cabin fits the shooting theme very well. There are windmills, an old carriage, and a bamboo basket on the shelf behind, and a violin and a wooden wheel are hung on the wall. The texture of these old objects adds a lot of story sense to the frame. The main light source during shooting came from the open window on the left, with natural light spilling in softly, and the green plants and reeds outside the window looking very vibrant in the backlight. I sat in front of the counter, resting my chin on my hands, looking out the window; the wood grain on the counter and the edges of the green books also became a great foreground, increasing the layering of the frame.
Actually, while shooting this set of pictures, I was constantly searching for Koishi's unconscious state. She doesn't need to face the camera directly, nor does she even need to have too many expressions. I tried to empty my gaze and think about what the world looks like to her. As an unawaited youkai, she is actually very pure, so her movements cannot be too large, maintaining a calm and even somewhat detached atmosphere. The action of resting the chin on hands is both a kind of relaxation and a form of self-protection, very suitable for showing her quietly observing the world from a corner.
During the shooting process, due to issues with the lighting angle, I changed my sitting posture several times. Although the light filtering through the left window has atmosphere, it easily creates shadows on the face, so the facial angle needed constant micro-adjustments. Although the props in the background are rich, they also easily steal the spotlight, so during composition, I tried my best to use them as a foil for the atmosphere rather than the main subject of the frame. The plants outside the window sway slightly in the breeze, and capturing them at the right moment also tests timing. Since the hat is relatively large, I also had to pay attention during shooting not to let the hat brim block my eyes, after all, the transmission of the gaze is very important in this set of pictures.
The overall vibe this set of pictures wants to create is quiet, vintage, with a bit of fairy tale coloring. No big movements, no exaggerated expressions, relying entirely on the details of the clothing and the atmosphere of the environment to hold it up. Playing Koishi is a very special experience for me, requiring me to put away the expressive power facing the camera that I'm usually used to, turning inward to restrain myself. The final photos turned out quite satisfactory in both lighting and composition, and I hope everyone can feel this quiet atmosphere belonging to Koishi.
