[Kuromi Serika cosplay] Blue Archive Summer Swimsuit: A "Lying Flat" Photoshoot Report

This Kuromi Serika cosplay summer Swimsuit cosplay Cosplay photoshoot set is probably the most comfortable one I've shot and the one I want to show everyone the most. Since I posted a teaser last time, I had to keep my promise—if I didn't post any pictures soon, forget losing followers, even I would feel it's such a waste for this set packed with summer vibes to gather dust on my hard drive.

The original planning intention for this set was to create a simple yet sufficiently refreshing summer pool setup. We chose a blue baseboard simulating water surface reflection, covered it with transparent water-ripple plastic sheets, and repeatedly adjusted the lighting angles so light and shadow refracted an illusion of genuinely sparkling water. The props team was amazing: a blue-and-white striped awning, several tropical artificial palm trees, anchor wall ornaments, stacked blue-and-white gift boxes, and the essential lifebuoy—giving the entire scene the upscale feel of a water park or a private beach. With a few half-cut watermelon props and sunglasses casually placed on the table, that lazy and casual vacation atmosphere was instantly maxed out in this Summer Film shoot.

Talking about the chosen Swimsuit cosplay outfit, the black off-the-shoulder ruffle design really complements the skin tone, while the black-and-white contrasting piping details make the overall look both cute and slightly cool. The cat ears on top paired with that pink halo ornament, along with a smooth dark blue gradient wig, showed great physical texture under strong studio lighting. Entering the water setup was physically demanding at first, because presenting a wet look without appearing messy required constantly adjusting posture and maintaining my center of gravity. Luckily, that large translucent swim ring was super practical—I could lean halfway back into it, achieving a true "lying flat" shooting style, so my poses became increasingly relaxed in later shots.

During the shoot, we captured many different angles—such as sitting inside the swim ring hugging my knees, legs lightly dangling above the shimmering blue water; or leaning against the lifebuoy next to a suitcase, leaning slightly forward. In some detail shots, you can see the black platform flip-flops worn on my feet, which served as a subtle trick to improve body proportions, extending lower body lines to make the look cleaner and sharper. I also really love the composition where my legs rest on a small wooden folding table while reclining barefoot, creating a subtle interactive perspective with the camera that feels exceptionally laid-back.

The main difficulty of this shoot focused on controlling reflections of the simulated water surface, which could easily end up looking like a plain blue backdrop if not careful. Fortunately, early preparation and post-production worked well together; the water ripple reflections and skin radiance were preserved beautifully, and the resulting atmospheric feel genuinely reached the expected refreshing standard.

After wrapping up this Summer Film set, the next step seamlessly connects to event schedule prep. Since July 31st marks the first day of Shanghai CJ, I'm already preparing for the dark dress Saber cosplay set. Unlike the casual lightness of Swimsuit cosplay, that dark dress requires more lighting precision and costume texture fidelity. Over these past couple days, I've been organizing wigs and matching props, hoping to capture even cooler shots at the convention.

In fact, every time a Cosplay photoshoot comes together—from character selection and prep to official shooting and post-production polishing—it is a process both painful and enjoyable. Especially when meeting a character that fits you perfectly and showcasing their unique charm before the lens, that sense of achievement is irreplaceable. I hope this set packed with summer vibes serves as a refreshing memory for everyone during this time.
