[March 7th Cosplay] Blue and White Dress on the Astral Express, Frozen In a Back Shot Before the Vortex - Image 1

This is the second teaser for the cosplay photoshoot, featuring March 7th's dress from Honkai: Star Rail. When I first saw this design in the game, I was completely amazed; that interlaced blue and white color combination paired with delicate girly details really hit my aesthetic sweet spot. mhy, please release this outfit in-game already, money is no object!

During this shoot, I made some modifications to this dress to better fit my personal preferences, so it isn't a 1:1 exact replica of the original art. Some canon-purist cuties might feel it lacks accuracy, so please go easy on me! I mainly made fine adjustments to the fabric textures and ribbon details, changing the original flat tailoring into something more three-dimensional with added layered pleats. Though it sacrifices a bit of the original design's airy feel, it has much better texture for real-life shooting.

To make moving around easier during outdoor shoots, I paired the lower half with white tights and a pair of light-colored high-heeled sandals, explicitly adding a blue-base bow at the heel to match. I chose to turn my back to the camera for this shoot mainly to give everyone a direct look at the giant blue bow on the back of the dress. This bow is the soul of the entire outfit; in fact, to maintain its fluffiness and crisp structure, I hand-sewed several layers of stiff mesh tulle underneath. The off-shoulder long sleeves also highlight the arm line nicely, and paired with short pinkish-white hair, the overall temperament naturally leans toward elegant yet playful.

During the shoot, the prop team brought over a small wooden table with a set of chess pieces. This vintage dark wooden table, paired with the blue and white dress, created a subtle sense of contrast—combining maiden-like dreaminess with the calm composure of a wise player at a chessboard. The background was a massive illuminated screen filled with an intense blue vortex graphic, appearing like a gaze into the void at the center of a nebula or a time tunnel traversing the cosmos. When capturing this set, we happened to catch the light dispersion passing through the screen onto my hair and sleeve covers, creating an overwhelming atmospheric feel.

Shooting several takes in these high-heeled sandals was honestly tiring, as maintaining a nice silhouette requires precise ankle engagement. The pose of standing and looking back over the shoulder also places demands on neck, core, and back strength; during shooting, I had to stabilize my center of gravity while fine-tuning my neck and shoulder alignment to form an elegant curve along my back. Luckily, I really loved the final camera effect: the white stockings looked beautifully translucent under the blue aura, and the leg lines were stretched just right without looking out of proportion.

For me, this outfit is not just about recreating a character, but also a concrete expression of my personal aesthetic. In the game, March 7th's personality carries a touch of playful tsundere and quick wits, so in my posing design, I referenced that sense of nimble readiness for sudden situations. Although this is only the second teaser of the cosplay photoshoot, with a lot of post-processing color grading and backdrop compositing still unfinished, I am very satisfied with the creative concept behind this shoot. As a crossdressing expert cosplaying a favorite female character, there will always be people who feel it's unnatural or hard to accept, but I believe as long as you put your heart into costumes, makeup, and props to present the character's spirit, gender shouldn't be a barrier in cosplay.

Finally, the photographer's composition and lighting helped immensely, bringing out that fairytale cosmic atmosphere beautifully. I'll gradually share the outfit details and crafting tips for the accessories, hoping to offer some creative inspiration to fellow Honkai: Star Rail fans. I won't ramble on about the twists and turns of the shoot in this post; here are some raw preview shots to show my initial design mindset. Thank you for reading patiently to the end!
