When taking on this photoshoot, to complement the Unrealized Realities outfit for Myrtle from Arknights, I prepared the red wig well in advance—especially that thick braided pigtail and the little yellow hair clip on the forehead, which took quite some time to style. The costume features a plaid pattern combined with monkey prints, presenting a rich color palette, so I deliberately chose the red staircase as a backdrop to keep the overall scene clean. The red-and-green waist beads are a standout accessory, tied securely with thin cords. Wearing geta clogs while shooting on a metal staircase required extra caution; since the stairs had open-grate slip-resistant treads, walking was loud and it was easy to trip, so I had to readjust my footing and weight distribution with every pose. The flagpole was heavier than expected, and holding it upright required conscious shoulder stability to prevent hands from shaking. While the white gloves and White stockings looked great, they got dirty easily, so I brought two spare pairs. For the crouching shot, I tested the instep angle repeatedly to ensure the leg lines looked smooth. Because the sunlight was strong that day, many angles were backlit, which gave the red hair a translucent, luminous glow. The shoot primarily involved constant posture adjustments to find the best camera presence, making it an immersive and focused experience. During post-processing, we avoided heavy filters or excessive smoothing, mainly adjusting the exposure slightly to give the red steps richer dimension and bring out the plaid texture of the costume. Sitting on the steps holding the flag beside my face naturally framed the composition. Walking in this outfit under the ambient light brought out an authentic character atmosphere. This shoot was a relaxed creative session where we walked the stairs multiple times to confirm lighting and positioning with the photographer. Choosing the red staircase was the right call; its color and linear structure framed the look without overpowering it. As a female photographer who often shoots others, I also enjoy being in front of the camera, directly experiencing what the model feels under the lights. The location was a total success—the geometric lines of the red staircase photographed gorgeously, and the warm tones of the garment remained vibrant. A day before shooting, I washed the prop flag and checked all wardrobe accessories to ensure the white gloves were spotless. I find that this kind of delicate dress looks best against clean steps and a minimal background to highlight the costume itself. The earrings used this time were also very dainty. Pre-shoot preparation is always vital, including double-checking the wig and hair accessories. Although the makeup looks effortless and cute, fine-tuning it took considerable effort.
