[Mayano Top Gun Cosplay] Umamusume: Pretty Derby Birthday Special, Freeze-Framing Shining Happiness with Maya

This set of photos was specifically created as a birthday cosplay celebration for Mayano Top Gun. After watching her stories in the anime and game, I've always felt that her pure, passionate, and slightly ditzy personality is extremely endearing. So when I got the chance to shoot this birthday special, my very first thought was to express her cute, playful side, along with her genuine feelings towards her dreams and companions.

For this photoshoot's outfit, I chose a ballgown skirt centered on pure white with a strapless bodice design, where the white thin bands along the outer edge blend seamlessly with the shoulder line. The skirt body isn't a simple flat white mesh; rather, it's scattered with embroidered dark pink and crimson blossoms, complemented by bright yellow and magenta satin ribbon trimmings along the waistline and hemline for rich visual layering. The skirt hem features a multi-tiered ruffled petticoat structure so that when sitting or holding flowers, the skirt naturally spreads out, looking full and airy. To fit the character's sweet maiden aura, I specially paired it with semi-transparent lace gloves made of white mesh, accented with pearl bead strands around the wrists, while holding a faux bouquet composed of pale yellow, orange, and white roses, making the overall color scheme feel warm and bright.

A lot of thought also went into coordinating the hairstyle and headpieces. The orange-red wig was meticulously trimmed to maintain a neat straight fringe, with hair on both sides flowing naturally along the jawline to frame the face nicely. Two high upright shapes were styled on top of the head resembling animal ears, which, combined with the hair bun tied at the back of the head, gave the entire head profile a very lively look. For hair accessories, besides a very striking pink silk flower worn next to the hair bun, I also used a pearl chain with a green teardrop pendant cascading down from the outer side of the bun. The pearl chain sways gently with every step and head turn, adding both dynamic flair and visual weight to the head profile.

On the day of the shoot, photographer \"阿森纳的小马丁\" was a huge help. We chose a very clean light peach gradient studio backdrop, which balanced the overly bright white of the dress and made the orange hair and bouquet colors pop even more. In terms of lighting setup, a soft area light source was used without deliberately creating harsh light-and-dark contrasts, aiming instead to evenly display skin texture and the subtle luster of the fabric.

For pose direction, the photographer guided me through various states. For example, a close-up with eyes closed while squatting sideways to gently sniff the flowers was designed to capture the character's quiet, soft side; standing poses emphasized playfulness, raising the bouquet high with one hand while placing the other beside the cheek, tilting the body slightly to give the skirt an upward dynamic movement as the body twisted. There was also a candid shot taken while seated, reaching out a hand toward the camera, which narrowed the interactive distance with the viewer. Although standing positions had to be frequently adjusted several times to prevent the skirt from exposing or hair ornaments from shifting, the entire creative atmosphere remained very relaxed, keeping me in a thoroughly happy state throughout.

Looking at these completed photos, my strongest feeling is \"sincerity.\" Although one can't truly possess a character's pure innocence in real life, being able to convey birthday blessings for her and love for the series at that moment through costume, props, and demeanor brings immense satisfaction. I hope everyone can feel that healing sense of growth and shining joy we wanted to express through these captured moments.
