[Azur Lane Cheshire Cat Cosplay] A Day at Hangzhou CM Baimahu

The Convention photos from Day 1 of the Hangzhou CM Baimahu expo are finally organized! I poured a lot of thought and effort into this Cheshire Cat cosplay from Azur Lane. Because it was shot in an authentic outdoor convention environment surrounded by fellow enthusiasts and passersby, the images carry an exceptionally vibrant on-site atmosphere.

Let's talk about the styling details first. The wig features a gray base with teal-blue highlights, paired with high-contrast blue contact lenses to give the eyes a lively and playful expression. The most elaborate part was certainly the large bow headpiece—a white and blue color scheme with intricate lace patchwork, accented by tiny golden bells on the corners that made a soft, crisp chime with every step. Right atop the headpiece, I added a small yellow plush Manjuu chick doll, a signature element of the character that fit the overall look perfectly. The white lace top, accented with a delicate black criss-cross tie at the bust and a deep navy apron outlined with golden lines, created a richly textured visual. The sleeves featured voluminous ruffled layers, and the wrists were finished with black-and-white lace trim, where long draping white ribbons added a graceful, airy flow.

The lower-body styling was another key visual highlight. White stockings in a garter style paired with black patent leather high heels provided great luster and visual extension under outdoor daylight. Whether standing on the ground or sitting on the ladder, they beautifully elongated the leg lines, harmonizing seamlessly with the blue-and-white dress.

During the shoot, we specifically sourced a silver aluminum folding ladder nearby as a prop. The sunshine on Day 1 at Hangzhou Baimahu was fantastic; under ample lighting, the lace textures and fabric luster were captured crisply. We shot several different poses, such as sitting on the ladder while holding the cascading white ribbons with both hands, or crossing my legs slightly to showcase the skirt's layers while highlighting the garter hosiery details. Another photo features a one-legged standing pose with the other leg lifted, paired with playful hand gestures to convey a lightweight, bouncy energy. Of course, interactive frames holding the yellow plushie were essential, as were the final shots kneeling on the ground for closer interaction with the prop doll.

Although this outfit appears light and breezy on camera, those multiple layers of puffy white petticoats and heavy lace trims actually carry noticeable weight, requiring some adjustment while moving through crowded convention halls. Fortunately, the weather that day was pleasantly cool, and since the outfit provided substantial coverage, running around outdoors to take photos remained quite comfortable.

That is the essence of Hangzhou cosplay events: despite the bustle, seeing everyone bring beloved characters to life creates an electric energy that studio shoots cannot replicate. A high-quality cosplay ultimately comes alive offline under genuine sunlight and in front of a live audience.
