[Her Highness Theresa cosplay] Freezing the Colors of Spring Under the Cherry Blossom Trees of Yuantong Mountain

Shooting this Her Highness Theresa cosplay set was done during the cherry blossom season at Yuantong Mountain.

The costume is from Yoimiya cosplay; upon receiving it, I found the black-and-white tailoring to be exceptionally crisp. The white deep V-neck patchwork on the chest and the black high collar create a highly clear visual contrast, and the red gemstone embedded in the cross accessory on the chest has a much more three-dimensional texture than expected, rather than just a flat printed pattern. The multi-layered structure of the entire skirt hem uses ample fabric, especially the staggered design of the inner grey-purple ruffles wrapped by the outer white layer. When capturing spins outdoors, it reveals a distinct physical layering—a realistic dynamic effect that is highly difficult to replicate with post-processing alone. The leather of the black boots is also highly form-fitting, doing a great job of grounding the silhouette alongside the large skirt.

In terms of the hair, the wig styling technique was highly commendable. I originally thought this kind of ultra-long white hair would easily look dry or over-reflective under outdoor light, but the roots of this wig were given excellent volume. The straight bangs were trimmed perfectly, framing my face beautifully without blocking my vision. The most wonderful part is the natural gradient transition from the hair tips to pink, giving the wig an anime-like translucency under the Yuantong Mountain natural light while preserving a matte texture, entirely avoiding any cheap plastic look. The black horns on the head took physical structure into account; instead of flimsy plastic sheets, they are made of a material with decent thickness. To prevent the horns from shifting during intense movements, we used double-layer buckles and a securing headband this time. They stayed stable even when shaking my head or running during candid captures, which was highly reassuring. Compared to the embarrassment of having horns fall off in past shoots, this gear gave me a massive sense of security.

This shoot was captured by photographer @望舒的cmos不妙屋. We checked the weather conditions of Yuantong Mountain beforehand and shot during the hour of the softest lighting. The tone of the entire set was set to be healing yet slightly cool, and the vast pink cherry blossoms in the Yuantong Mountain background perfectly suited the temperament of Her Highness Theresa. When shooting full-body dynamics, continuous high-speed burst shots were required to catch the exact moment the skirt flared out widest, while ensuring natural facial lighting during the backward-glance to avoid harsh shadows. Utilizing soft natural light instead of a harsh flash beautifully preserved the fine hair details at the edges of the wig, as well as the metallic texture of the matte black band ring on my hand. The photographer also specifically reminded me to pay attention to the angle during the close-up of holding a blossom in my mouth, ensuring the light reflection of the blossom on my lips matched the purple pupils—this level of detail control vastly improved the success rate of the photos.

Although there were quite a few tourists at Yuantong Mountain that day, we found a relatively secluded cherry blossom grove as our main scene. The full-bloom pink cherry blossoms and the black-white-gray outfit formed a powerful contrast between warm and cool tones. When the blossoms drifted down, the captured close-ups looked exceptionally gentle. During the shoot, I constantly adjusted the flow of my hair to prevent the long side locks on both sides from getting messy in the wind and obscuring my facial contours. Overall, this outfit has an excellent fit around the chest and collar tailoring without being overly dramatic, preserving the character's signature elegant yet mysterious temperament. The outdoor lighting was highly variable; to replicate that oppressive presence of this Arknights character—one who drifts outside the core yet has an undeniable influence—the close-up shots and full-body shots required completely different eye expressions. This is also why the gaze in the Figure 1 close-up is gentler, while the demeanor during the Figure 2 full-body backward-glance is slightly sharper. Every shutter click is a reinterpretation of the character's personality; the moment the skirt naturally flared out as my body's center of gravity shifted, I finally found the most suitable frame to freeze for this photo. Although we didn't have highly complex props for this ACG outdoor location, utilizing the natural beauty of Yuantong Mountain and the outfit's own texture, I am already very satisfied with the final results. Apologies for my minor indecision regarding the costume choice earlier; the effect styled with the actual items truly exceeded my expectations.
