Today at the BW booth, I brought to life this look for Escoffier cosplay from Genshin Impact. With pristine white as the dominant tone, the ensemble features a heart-shaped cutout at the chest, accented by an exaggerated bow tie alternating between vibrant pink and black, alongside detached sleeves color-blocked in black and gold—brimming with intricate layers. To ensure the fabric looked flawlessly crisp before the camera, I spent considerable time steaming the white fabric and golden pleats with a garment steamer before heading out, preventing unsightly creases. The white chef's hat on top had to be secured onto the orange wig using bobby pins, and paired with the braided plait on the right side, the entire head styling carried quite some heft in this 2D cosplay.
The most eye-catching element of this look was undoubtedly the giant white fork prop in hand, its handle wrapped in yellow and pink striped ribbons. Made of solid material, it felt remarkably heavy in hand; posing required not only arm strength control but also precise angle calculations to prevent the colossal fork from obscuring facial expressions or throwing off the composition. To ensure optimal visual effects, I constantly calibrated my grip on the fork to display the prop's dimensional contours under the booth lighting.
The lower half paired a white miniskirt with over-the-knee socks (White stockings), where the metallic buckle garter strap at the thigh served as a visual highlight. To keep my leg lines looking fluid and sleek before the lens, I frequently smoothed out the stockings, utilizing slightly angled leg poses to visually elongate proportions while coordinating with high-angle and low-angle shots to capture the skirt's intricate golden patterns. For makeup, pale blue contact lenses complemented by reddish blending at the outer eye corners and a cool, muted lip color were chosen to capture the character's unique demeanor.
Shooting at this booth actually posed many challenges because the pink gauze backdrop swallowed colors heavily; if the lighting didn't align, the white clothing could easily blow out. I communicated extensively with the photographer, experimenting with varying exposure compensations. Furthermore, over-the-knee socks tend to slip down easily, so I prepped anti-slip tape and sock garters to ensure the White stockings stayed at the optimal height throughout continuous shooting, showcasing that signature subtle squeeze along the thigh edges. To present better contours, I also did stretching routines during shoot breaks so that leg muscles appeared relaxed and natural beneath the snug stockings.
While shooting at the booth, the on-site pink tulle and giant cake props created a delightful confectionery ambiance. Before the lens, I explored poses like cupping my cheek with one hand, adjusting the brim of the chef's hat, and gripping the fork with both hands; during compositional direction, the photographer specifically emphasized distinguishing the white silhouette of the giant fork from the background pink tones. Though standing in high heels all day while holding up a hefty prop took a physical toll, seeing the golden piping and pink-black color-blocking of the costume come alive with rich, full-bodied texture under the lighting made all the prior prep and on-site adjustments entirely worthwhile. This time, I infused a touch of playfulness into the choreography, hoping to bring fans of this 2D Genshin Impact character a fresh visual experience in this Escoffier cosplay.
