I decided to kick off my first post of 2026 with this Tachibana Nozomi gymnastics uniform cosplay look. Spent the whole weekend playing around in the studio with the photographer, and seeing the final results, the visual collision between the white backdrop and the green hues felt incredibly satisfying.
When shooting Highlander Twins Cosplay from Blue Archive, the first priority is the wig's color shade. This light green ponytail can easily look washed out or overly glaring under studio lights. Fortunately, the material sourced this time had great texture. The halo overhead is an independent accessory; securing its position with clips and adhesive took considerable effort, as large movements could loosen it, but luckily most poses were relatively static and stayed firmly in place. For the elf ears, I specifically selected a pair matching my skin tone, adding subtle shading along the edges to prevent them from looking swollen or unnatural under bright lighting.
In terms of makeup, I previously considered a heavier look, but given the youthful essence of the gymnastics uniform and the character's persona, I ultimately chose a translucent base. The eye makeup avoided complex cut-creases, opting instead for a soft dusting of red beneath the eyes to balance the overall palette. The lips were kept in a natural nude tone; paired with the green wig, the goal was to let a clean face accentuate the contours of the body and clothing rather than having makeup overpower the frame.
As for Nozomi's gymnastics uniform, the classic white T-shirt with black trim paired with navy blue shorts faithfully follows the original design. Looking closely, the delicate white side stripes on the navy shorts were accurately recreated. The T-shirt has a loose, relaxed fit, requiring specific angles to flatter the upper body. During the shoot, the photographer constantly adjusted the chair height to find a posture that anchored my center of gravity on the seat while visually elongating the leg proportions.
A white thigh-highs outfit is truly the soul of this gymnastics uniform cosplay styling. Finding good white socks on the market isn't easy—some slip down easily, while others reflect too much glare. The pair chosen this time had moderate opacity and a snug fit; in the pose propped on the desk, fully extending my legs showcased smooth, fluid contours. While a high-key white studio looks pristine, shooting in it is tricky with exposure; an overly bright background easily swallows the white T-shirt and white thigh-highs. We relied on subtle post-processing to tone down lighting contrast and fine-tune color balance, cleanly separating the subject from the backdrop for crisp Anime-style photography.
For such clean studio photography, lighting setup is far more crucial than shooting itself. We used large softboxes to ensure no harsh shadows fell across the face and limbs, leaving plenty of leeway for post-production. While many prefer cyber or sci-fi edits for anime themes, I've always felt a high-key white studio best brings out the character's raw, authentic vitality. Free from distracting props, just a white table and white walls, green ponytail, over-the-knee white thigh-highs, and a touch of facial blush are more than enough to convey the character's emotions.
The Highlander Twins character concept carries a lively and spirited charm, and during the shoot, I sought angles that captured that personality. For instance, sitting on the tabletop resting my chin on one hand looking toward the lens, or leaning back against the chair to unwind. Lowering the center of gravity made poses look more effortless, while slightly raising the chin conveyed her unique spark of confidence. The photographer captured these fleeting moments with impeccable timing.
Sorting through these photos, I realized that gymnastics uniform cosplay holds a magical charm—though a simple staple, it radiates a bright and pure aura on camera. In post-processing, most effort went into faithful color reproduction with subtle contrast control, eschewing flashy filters. I hope this photo set delivers that crisp, clean, and refreshing impression right from the first glance.
