This set of Yuezheng Ling Chinese-style cosplay photos from the end of April is finally sorted out smoothly at this point. Combining the studio shoot perspective of photographer Mubai, looking back at these negatives now, I am highly satisfied with the final presentation of the entire set of photos.

This photoshoot chose a scene leaning towards traditional Chinese style to blend with the character's features, making an appropriate secondary creation in styling. The outfit is a modified Qipao made of red silk fabric. The halter design beautifully accentuates the neckline, and the white embroidered textures on the fabric give the whole garment an excellent texture under the studio lighting. To preserve the character's inherent agility, the hairstyle utilizes symmetric braiding adorned with red tassel hair accessories, and the playful bangs focus the visual core on the facial expressions. The black over-the-knee stockings with red trim on the lower body, paired with the red lace-up cloth shoes on the feet, cleverly echo the global red, black, and white color scheme, making the overall styling look both bold like the 2D world and restrained with Chinese charm.

The props used during the shoot were extremely rich, which was also the key to creating the moody atmosphere. The most eye-catching is undoubtedly the half-hanging scroll painted with full pomegranates and agile birds. Paired with the wooden abacus and red lanterns on the right bookshelf, it instantly established the atmosphere of an old-time study room or boudoir. When holding the calligraphy brush, I simulated the dynamic posture of writing or painting; while switching to the round fan with gold patterns and long tassels, the posture could be more relaxed. The dark wooden tables and chairs in the scene were also the crowning touch, as the lines of the tall stands and armchair added layers to the composition.

During the shooting process, photographer Mubai and I experimented with multiple camera angles and actions. The first candid snap captures the focus of writing sideways; the second is a front composition where I look straight into the lens while holding the round fan, appearing quite relaxed in both gaze and limbs; the third utilizes a high-angle perspective, using lens distortion to create a sense of envelopment between the character and the scroll, which is very interesting. This warm red studio lighting heavily tests the coordination between the model and the venue; it can envelop the white ground and beige painted scroll in a soft atmosphere without letting the red of the dress overexpose or bleed out.

This year happens to mark the 11th-anniversary milestone since the birth of this Vocaloid character, so when interpreting this Chinese-style version, I also hoped to convey its bright and spirited traits as much as possible. Borrowing that phrase from the post, "We sing the song of April at the most splendid moment," this set of photos exactly records such a vibrant instant. It was precisely because of considering the commemorative significance of the work that a lot of thought went into matching the props, costumes, and adjusting the lighting on-site. This studio shoot share was an exceptionally smooth collaboration. Huge thanks to photographer Mubai for precisely capturing these angles, and also thanks to friends on site who helped arrange the scroll and adjust the lanterns. With the final photos fully organized, this visual record is presented at the tail end of April.
