[Tingyun cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail New Year Red Maple Themed Photoshoot

The overall concept for this New Year themed Tingyun photoshoot was built around a warm color palette and a classical courtyard aesthetic. To give the scene rich depth, we deliberately decorated the set with folding screens, red maple foliage, lanterns, and an oiled-paper umbrella, aiming to create a tranquil space infused with a festive touch. The shoot took place in Qingdao; despite the chilly weather, stepping into costume and channeling her persona made me focus entirely on refining every gesture and expression to the finest detail.

In terms of styling, Tingyun's signature red-and-black highlighted long hair and fluffy fox ears took center stage. Once smoothed, the wig required precise layering around the sideburns and tips to achieve a seamless blend between the red and black tones. The texture of the beast ears was repeatedly brushed before shooting to ensure they stayed perky and three-dimensional from any angle. The outfit featured a red-and-white modified dress, paired with a long black fur stole and a pearl necklace to infuse a touch of lavish elegance. For footwear, black high heels were chosen to elongate leg lines while enhancing the visual extension of seated and reclining postures.

Props served as pivotal anchors throughout the shoot. To match the New Year and merchant theme, an abacus and a brass steelyard scale were set on the table, which, along with the folding fan in my hand, gave me natural touchpoints for posing. Flicking the abacus beads while seated at the table, or holding the folding fan with one hand while turning to gaze at the camera, effortlessly brought out Tingyun's composed, merchant-savvy demeanor. The photographer put tremendous effort into lighting design: with primary light emanating from the lanterns behind me, the warm yellow glow washed over my face and props, creating a striking contrast against the dark landscape screen in the backdrop that made the photos pop.

During the actual shoot, carrying off the full ensemble while keeping body movements relaxed and poised was quite demanding. For the reclining shot on the floor, the red skirt and fluffy tail had to be laid out meticulously, with the leg angles fine-tuned so the framing remained clean and uncluttered. Behind every picture were countless rounds of straightening the hem, adjusting hairpieces, and discussing camera angles. From initial prep to the finished edits, the team poured an immense amount of care into this set. I hope everyone can feel our attention to detail.
