Coming to the seaside to shoot this official Kiryuu Kikyou cosplay from Blue Archive, my core goal was leveraging the expansive coastal horizon to showcase the character's nimble, spirited essence. Achieving the ideal visual impact required plenty of homework on hair and makeup details. For the wig, I selected a natural-sheen black short style cut into a bob with blunt bangs, meticulously feathering the curve of the sidelocks to snugly contour my face shape. To faithfully recreate her iconic headpiece features, multiple hidden bobby pins were used to firmly secure the black animal ears and the rigid circular halo accessory at the back of the head, ensuring the props stayed put even against gusty coastal winds.

The most challenging component of the entire styling was the twin-tail prop set behind me. To achieve natural sweeping arcs and organic sway while walking or leaping, I built flexible internal armatures wrapped in ultra-soft plush fabric. The gradient bright-blue tips of the tails stood out vividly against the backdrop of ocean waves.

Regarding the wardrobe, the construction of this dark green bikini is remarkably intricate. Beyond the halter-neck triangle-cup cut, multiple delicate black straps wrap across the chest and neck, paired with a wide choker to enrich visual layering. The tie-side bikini bottoms and the petite white flower embellishment at the bust elevate the overall look with delicate refinement. To introduce fluttering elegance into the composition, I layered a light-blue semi-sheer shawl patterned with blue stars over my shoulders, harmonizing effortlessly with the cool-toned seaside palette.

The overcast sky by the coast provided soft, natural diffused lighting, wonderfully flattering skin translucency. In terms of posing, I focused on capturing her feline agility. The snapshot of leaping lightly on one leg across the sand, for instance, thoroughly tested core strength and balance—requiring engaged abdominal muscles to stabilize the body while extending my arms naturally to coordinate with the tails' kinetic arc, evoking an agile posture poised to dash off at any second. With the sea breeze tossing the sheer shawl and strands of hair, natural movement provided the finest embellishment without looking forced. I also continuously adjusted my facial orientation toward subtle ambient reflections to cultivate bright catchlights in my eyes, ensuring expressive depth even mid-motion. Throughout the shoot, tuning into the rhythm of the ocean breeze and bodily movement brought this 2D character to life organically through evocative body language and cinematic atmosphere.
