[St. Louis Cosplay] Elegance of the Eagle Union: The Brooklyn-class Light Cruiser Arrives

Sharing the complete set of St. Louis convention photos from the venue. The schedule on the day of the convention was packed, but putting on this outfit and arriving at the hall made all the busyness feel completely worth it. With thorough preparation this time, what I wanted to present most was that serene elegance characteristic of the Eagle Union.

First, let's talk about the costume's fabric and details. The silver sequined deep-V halter short dress has an incredible reflective texture under direct flash; in person, it refracts a delicate, starry shimmer. The front of the skirt hem is short, while the sides and back are spliced with greyish-white cascading long tulle, providing a lovely layered flow as I walked. The white feather shawl is the soul of the entire look, loosely wrapped around my arms to add a retro vibe while visually balancing the revealing nature of the halter dress. This outfit actually demands good posture, especially with the deep-V neckline, requiring me to keep my core engaged and chest high at all times to hold up the garment's cut.

There are also quite a few clever details in the accessories, hair, and makeup. The bright blue wig features a side-swept curl, with a silver metal music-note hair clip placed right at the parting to highlight the overall look. To match St. Louis's cool yet gentle vibe, I specifically chose pink-purple contact lenses. The base makeup was kept clean and translucent to emphasize eye details, ensuring that even under the harsh glare of the flash, my skin tone maintained a beautiful cool white look. I also love the multi-layered necklace around my neck; the silver chains and gold tassel pendants beautifully echoed the color of the high heels.

Regarding the props and posing design today, we found a black folding step ladder at the venue. This simple, everyday item is highly practical for shoots, providing stable support for sitting poses while conveying a casual vibe. Most of the convention photos this time revolved around this black ladder. For example, in the cross-legged sitting pose of the first image, I repeatedly adjusted the angle of my toes to find the most graceful yet effortless state. During the shoot, you have to place your weight properly on your hips and thighs, then extend your lower legs slightly, using the thin high heels to elongate the leg lines while maintaining a confident yet relaxed expression—which requires immense focus to keep natural.

Coordination with the lighting during the shoot was also crucial. The photographer @Pulao411 is highly skilled at capturing flash portraits in exhibition environments. The light sources on-site were complex, but the photographer found precise angles to hit the silver sequined dress, fully displaying the shimmering texture of the clothing while slightly darkening the background to highlight the subject's silhouette. Messy backgrounds are the hardest part of convention photos, but through the coordination of equipment and distance, the resulting effect is clean and crisp, carrying a strong stage presence.

Returning to the character itself, St. Louis, as a Brooklyn-class light cruiser, naturally carries a timeless, serene elegance. When recreating her, I deliberately avoided overly exaggerated expressions, maintaining a calm smile instead. I engaged in subtle interactions like playing with my hair or gently touching the necklace on my chest to give the frame more narrative depth. We also tried different postures, striving to match the character's lazy and elegant demeanor in both the hand-to-cheek contemplative poses and the relaxed, feet-dangling stances.

These convention photos went much more smoothly than imagined, with both the costume state and the camera presence on point. Minimalist scenes are actually the best for showcasing the visual tension of the subject. While the combination of feathers, sequins, and high heels can easily look bulky or overly gaudy, the photographer's control and on-site coordination ensured a great final result, doing full justice to the carefully prepared outfit. It was an incredibly happy cosplay shooting experience.
