[Fugue Cosplay] Classical Elegance and Kemonomimi Styling in a Real Chinese Set

The moment I put on this outfit, the first thing I noticed was the tactile contrast between different fabrics. The off-the-shoulder cuffs are made of stiffer brocade satin, holding a crisp shape, while the inner paneled sections use lightweight, soft silk and semi-translucent gauze. This contrast between heavy and light perfectly matches the contradictory temperament of the character. Beyond the ears suited for a Kemonomimi girl look, the headpiece includes several golden hairpins on the side that need to be carefully fixed onto the wig; otherwise, swinging a high ponytail or long hair could easily loosen them.

A lot of effort actually went into the makeup. Since the character's eyes are a very distinct green, I specifically wore matching green contact lenses, combined with upturned eyeliner to make my gaze appear brighter and more vivid. For lip color, I selected a brick red shade that brightens skin tone, balancing facial makeup without being overshadowed by the rich, heavy costume.

Returning to the set, this Chinese-style indoor build was extremely professional. The circular backlit moon gate in the background was the absolute highlight of the whole scene. When warm yellow light filtered out from behind the moon gate, a soft glow outlined my facial contours. The weathered details on the wooden furniture were also remarkably intricate, which, combined with the Four Treasures of the Study on the low table, made it feel as though an ancient maiden was truly waiting for an old friend's return.

During the shoot, to complement the ground smoke effect, the photographer specifically set up low-angle camera positions. As the smoke drifted, it veiled my shoes in clouds, creating an ethereal, heavenly atmosphere. I used a lot of eye contact in this photo set—especially in close-up half-body shots, covering half my face with a folding fan and showing only my eyes—a bashfully expressive pose that yielded amazing Chinese style photography shots.

Regarding silhouette depiction, because the skirt features a high slit, sitting and standing postures both required keeping legs extended at all times to make overall body lines appear sleeker. Standing poses can inevitably feel a bit stiff; instead, the photo sitting on the floor—with legs naturally crossed, high heel lines extending outward, and accented by the folding fan—featured the most relaxed composition.

Looking at the final retouched photos, although there are no overly exaggerated special effects, the authentic color textures combined with scene atmosphere truly materialized that slightly melancholic emotion from poetry. For Traditional style cosplay, I feel that faithfully capturing the innate beauty of an outfit and a styling is already deeply rewarding.
