The theme of this shoot is a Chinese-style Lolita Custom design cosplay for Luo Tianyi, blending the virtual singer's Anime cosplay attributes with traditional Chinese aesthetics. To fit this design, I chose a white-based dress tailored with a casual Lolita silhouette, yet filled with thoughtful details. The neckline features a Chinese mandarin collar accented with a pink bow and traditional frog buttons, overlaid with semi-sheer lace tulle to preserve a youthful charm while adding classical grace. The puff sleeves and lace-trimmed skirt hem lend an airy lightness to the entire look. For the wig, I selected long, wavy silver-grey hair with blunt forehead bangs, allowing the lengths to cascade naturally. On either side of the head, I styled looped twin buns adorned with small blue floral hair accessories, creating a subtle color contrast against the pink-and-white dress. In terms of makeup, green colored contacts were worn to match the character's traits, the base makeup was kept clear and radiant, pink blush coverage was enhanced, and soft eye makeup made the eyes look livelier on camera. For props, a pink paper umbrella was the centerpiece of this Chinese style photography session. Faint floral branch motifs were printed on the canopy, built on a wooden rib structure with red tassels hanging from the handle. During shooting, I experimented with different ways of holding the umbrella—such as resting it open tilted against the shoulder, or folding it lightly in hand while gently twirling my hair—bringing a natural rhythm to the frame. The set design also took considerable thought, featuring wooden lattice doors in the background draped with cascading wisteria, white flowers, and pearl garlands, filling the space with dreamy, layered depth. Soft lighting was primarily used to guide the palette toward gentle whites, pinks, and purples, muting harsh contrast. The most engaging part of this type of Custom design cosplay lies in infusing personal styling and aesthetic sensibilities while honoring the character's core identity. Chinese-style Lolita offers immense creative freedom, requiring a balance between traditional heritage and Lolita refinement, which necessitated constant adjustments to the outfit and posing. While shooting, I paid close attention to hand placement and how to leverage the curve of the skirt hem in compositions to keep the frames dynamic. Different shooting angles were tested to complement the styling; for seated poses, the skirt flared out naturally while ensuring elbows did not obscure the lace and frog buttons on the chest. Standing poses involving hair-twirling also required fluid motion to avoid stiffness. After all, practical experience is invaluable, and only when stepping before the lens can one master conveying subtle emotions through nuanced body language. The gentle palette of the scene intertwined natural wood grain with lush floral arrangements, while the red tassels of the umbrella formed a captivating focal point. Every captured frame materialized the creative vision. Participating fully from garment curation and makeup design to prop preparation provided rich, practical insights into Chinese style photography. I hope these photos reveal another enchanting possibility for Luo Tianyi within a traditional Chinese aesthetic.
