[Altria cosplay] FGO Lartoria cosplay and Live Photos with Rhongomyniad

This time at the Firefly ACG Expo, I cosplayed Altria from Fate/Grand Order, commonly known as Lartoria. The outfit and props were specifically adjusted for outdoor convention shooting, aiming mainly to recreate the character's sharp and imposing aura when holding this glowing lance.

First, let's talk about how the costume felt to wear. The base uses dark blue high-elasticity fabric, stitched with golden embroidered embossing and trim. In particular, the cutout design on the chest and waist, paired with silver-gray metallic armor pieces, rendered incredible texture under camera flashes. Actually, this suit is very form-fitting; to maintain a sleek exterior, internal straps and invisible shoulder straps were used to secure everything. The red cape hanging from the shoulders selected suede fabric with great drape, while white fur trim around the collar made the iconic red, blue, and white color combination instantly recognizable in crowds.

Next, about that imposing weapon from the game. This Rhongomyniad prop was definitely the main physical drain. The main lance body is a long, glowing milky-white column, surrounded by crisscrossing golden thorn-like spikes. Holding the end with one hand placed the center of gravity far forward, requiring extra arm strength during poses to control its orientation and prevent the tip from knocking against ground stones. The photographer's composition was brilliant, utilizing a wide-angle lens to extend the lance tip to the very front of the frame, using exaggerated foreground perspective to highlight the massive scale of this weapon.

Hair and makeup also underwent detailed refinement. A light golden wig was used this time, with forehead bangs trimmed to feel soft and fluffy, topped with a golden crown-shaped hair ornament secured in place so the hairstyle silhouette looked more 3D under light illumination. For makeup, I selected bright green contact lenses to reinforce character traits, paired with dark eyeshadow and delicate tight tightlines, making the gaze appear sharper and more focused when maintaining a stern expression.

Regarding the shooting environment and lighting, the crowd at Firefly ACG Expo was immense. This set of photos was mostly taken outdoors or near passageways on the edges of the exhibition halls. The photographer used high-brightness flashes to overpower ambient light and darken the background, simplifying busy spectators and booths behind me to the maximum degree, making me as the main subject stand out distinctly in the frame. Because lighting angles varied significantly across the site, low-angle shots presented a king's majesty, while slight high-angle or profile shots elongated body lines. Particularly, candid snaps of the swinging cape added dynamic movement to still Stockings convention photos.

Honestly, shooting outdoors at an anime convention while lugging such physically heavy props is exhausting. Wearing a tight battle suit plus a heavy cape while moving through crowds required constant vigilance to prevent props from bumping into people around. But when the photographer brought up the final shots and I saw the complete character aura in the frame, that fatigue melted away. Turning back while holding the lance, or positioning the weapon horizontally in a combat stance—these subtle details matched the character's innate resilient temperament wonderfully.

Several photos in this set adopted a front eye-level view, clearly showing reflections off the metallic pieces on the suit; others featured wide-angle compositions with the weapon close to the lens, as well as dynamic captures striding forward carrying the weapon. Overall, through the combination of bright suit colors, weapon props, and intense live lighting, the character image was presented quite completely. Through this process, I further appreciated the fun and challenges of bringing high-difficulty prop characters to life in Lartoria cosplay.
