[Kuda Izuna cosplay] Blue Archive Summer Swimsuit Look: Having So Much Fun Playing in the Water

I finally had the chance to shoot this Kuda Izuna cosplay in her Summer swimsuit look at an outdoor pool. The weather was fantastic, with sunlight sparkling across the water's surface, which, paired with tropical greenery in the background, instantly created a summer vacation ambiance.

Let me start with the details of this outfit. The black sun hat on her head paired with fluffy animal ears, plus red spiral decorations and sunflowers, looks overall very lively. The red scarf around her neck echoes the blue-and-white striped bikini top very refreshingly. The denim shorts on the bottom paired with a small yellow waist bag and that giant fluffy yellow-orange tail make the wearer feel mischievous and nimble. The tail has plenty of fluff; getting it slightly wet in the water during shooting actually made it look more realistic and natural.

Shooting was actually quite a test of stamina, as I had to switch poses repeatedly along the poolside. The posture in the first photo, lying on the white wooden boardwalk, required keeping my center of gravity low, supported by my arms, while keeping the tail from touching the water too much so the fur wouldn't collapse. The second photo shows leaning against a pink inflatable float; this pose was much more relaxed, allowing better display of upper body curves and the presence of the swimsuit. The photographer captured very natural expressions, and I strove to make my gaze and gestures feel more dynamic.

As a swimsuit Cosplay photography project, one must consider not only costume lore accuracy, but also the impact of outdoor lighting on skin tones and water reflections. The lens used this time had a relatively wide aperture, softly blurring the background palm trees and thatched pavilions to highlight the subject, while the clear, luminous blue-green tones of the water conveyed a delightful summer cooling feel. During actual shooting, there were many passersby nearby, but everyone was quite friendly, without interrupting our creative rhythm.

In fact, Water amusement in the pool has been an activity I loved since childhood, so combining my favorite character styling with playing in the water fulfilled a sweet little wish. Regarding prop matching, beyond the pink inflatable ball, the waist bag and striped wristbands on my wrists were all fully prepared according to lore, yielding high overall styling completeness. Though wearing the full gear in summer gets a bit warm, soaking in the water makes it completely fine, and I even felt the giant tail could double as a cushion.

The shooting process lasted about two hours, during which makeup was touched up twice, as water vapor and sweat could smudge makeup slightly—especially eyeliner and blush needed timely reinforcement. Yet seeing the final results made it deeply worthwhile; light, shadow, composition, and colors all met expectations. I hope to have opportunities to shoot more summer outdoor works with similar themes in the future, as blending cooling sensations with character personality always sparks wonderful moments.

Lastly, I want to say that behind every Cosplay photography work lies extensive preparation and adjustment—from prop making and outfit styling to on-site positioning—every step requires dedication to truly convey the character's essence.
