I had planned this set of Sesshouin Kiara cosplay for a long time, and it wasn't until everything was fully prepared this time that the shoot finally happened. The photographer in charge of this set doesn't usually play Fate/Grand Order, as she mainly specializes in outdoor photography for other themes. During a break in makeup, I casually gave her a breakdown of the character's backstory. When she heard what kind of setting was actually hidden behind this seemingly merciful saint, she was completely shocked. Looking at my makeup, she questioned her reality and said, "So you have this kind of character setting?! Then we need to practice that gaze a bit more!" What turned out to be even funnier was that, halfway through the scene setup, the photographer had already started looping "Anima Ataraxia" on repeat in the studio. She was clearly completely assimilated by the deep worldview of the Fate series and the unique charm of the character, making the live atmosphere at the scene highly cyberpunk and hilarious at one point.
On the makeup side, besides the routine base makeup brightening, the focus actually lied in the subtle shimmers of the eye makeup, and the combination of those ceremonial red marks on the forehead and chest with bright yellow colored contacts, attempting to recreate that non-human yet sacred aura. The outfit features a large area of lightweight white silk drapes paired with high-contrast rose-pink lace and pink over-the-knee boots; the color matching highly tests the lighting. The planet prop with blue cloud patterns that I held in my hand happened to reflect a light and shadow feel aligned with the character setting under the studio's intertwined purple and blue dreamy lights.
The shooting process actually consumed a lot of physical energy. To avoid hitting the long sharp horns and the wide silk drapes, every turn required calculating the distance. At the same time, I had to precisely control my micro-expressions in front of the lens to look for that subtle balance between looking down on everything with pity for all creation, and carrying a hint of both disdain and tenderness. Coordinated with the draped sheer curtains, flower clusters, and that high-hanging crescent moon in the setting, the final cuts possess both a mythological solemnity and a fatal attraction that cannot be ignored for this FGO cosplay session. Although my back ached all over after finishing the whole set, seeing myself frozen on the camera screen made me feel that it truly captured the contradictory yet charming traits of the character for this piece of Cosplay photography from Anime cosplay.
