[Velvet cosplay] Special Service from Goddess of Victory: Nikke, Sharing Convention Shots

Today I'm bringing you the Velvet cosplay look from Goddess of Victory: Nikke. I've always loved this character's aura—that atmosphere of confidence mixed with a touch of playfulness is perfect for showcasing live on-site. Regarding the costume, the top is a halter-neck style featuring gold patterns on a black base. This fabric is actually quite demanding, but fortunately the tailoring and fit were snug enough, and the pink accents on the chest and waist prevented the overall tone from looking too dull. What satisfied me most was the white lace half-apron in front, which, together with the white wrist cuffs, instantly maximized the everyday waitress feel. The contrast charm is truly a bonus for this look.

For the bottom, I chose a solid black high-slit skirt, paired with matte black tights and black stiletto heels. This classic black-pink-black combination not only elongates the leg line but also adds great texture, perfect for Black stockings cosplay. Many friends ask if crouching or walking around in high heels at an anime convention gets exhausting; honestly, once you're used to the convention floor, it's fine as long as you master your posture and center of gravity. The metal tray in my hand serves as an iconic item for Velvet cosplay—holding it up instantly brings you into character, making it feel as though you're about to serve a special drink to the Commander the very next second.

The shoot took place inside a large convention venue, where dense overhead lighting cast beautiful bokeh effects. The photographer put immense effort into both early lighting setup and post-processing, neatly isolating the subject from the background, while subtle reflections on the floor added extra dynamism. The venue was actually bustling, with other attendees and equipment dimly visible in the background, but through Convention photography we kept the subject as clean as possible.

As for makeup details, I specifically picked light green contact lenses to make my eyes look more spirited. The eye makeup was drawn slightly elongated, which, paired with the pink wig, immediately drew the visual focus to my face and upper body. Long pink hair is actually quite challenging to manage since it tangles easily, but to faithfully recreate the character, I spent plenty of time detangling and styling before heading out.

Speaking of which, cosplaying waitress-style characters always brings a relatively relaxed sense of immersion. Instead of remaining rigid, you can naturally showcase playful subtle movements—like turning slightly sideways or holding the tray with one hand—to make the character come alive. I also deeply enjoy switching between reality and the character. Early preparation and on-site adjustments are both crucial: costume fit, smoothing wrinkles, and securing the wig—every minor detail impacts the final shot's quality.

During shooting at the convention, I encountered some fun moments: passing attendees were curious about which series this look came from, and upon learning it was Velvet from Nikke, they would often show a sudden realization. This interaction with fellow enthusiasts is one of the great joys of Anime cosplay. Additionally, I paid special attention to bodily stretch during rehearsals, as Velvet's movements are inherently flexible, so even in static photography, I strived to maintain dynamic tension.

The lighting in these photos was fantastic; dense spotlights overhead, combined with subtle post-processed bokeh effects, created a dreamy yet slightly cyber atmosphere. Compared to overly realistic styles, photo sets infused with soft light and rich ambience better fit the aesthetic of anime characters. Whenever I see the final results, I recall the process of makeup prep, scene setup, and finding angles on site—tiring, but entirely worth it. To achieve maximum accuracy, the belt of this outfit, including the gold pattern details, was custom-tailored to deliver an effect true to the original design.

Finally, I'd like to touch upon post-processing logic. Many newcomers feel post-processing can fix everything, but in reality, early-stage lighting and form dictate the upper limit. In this photo, because the venue floor was a glossy material, poor lighting control could easily lead to messy reflections; fortunately, the photographer's lighting avoided this issue, keeping the overall composition remarkably clean. During everyday cosplay shoots, I also habituate carrying a small comb to tidy my hair anytime, ensuring neatness in every frame.

Shooting in black stockings and a slit skirt really tests leg lines. Spending a full day at a comic convention is certainly exhausting, but being able to present a character I love transforms all fatigue into immense fulfillment. I hope this photo set conveys Velvet's style to everyone, and I look forward to trying different scenes and concepts in the future. Overall, I am quite satisfied with this outcome—the costume texture and ambient lighting met my expectations.
