Today, I'm sharing this set of behind-the-scenes photos of Yuuka cosplay and Tendou Alice Cosplay from Blue Archive. When taking these photos, we mainly wanted to capture everyday moments distinct from the formality of official finished shoots, so the overall poses and atmosphere are very relaxed.
Let's first talk about the styling. A lot of thought went into recreating these two Academic style uniforms. The jackets feature a two-tone design with a black body and white spliced sleeves, retaining the original design's accent lines on the cuffs and hem. To give the jacket a crisper, more structured silhouette when worn, I specifically added light padding in the shoulders. The inner white button-up shirt features a hidden button design so the buttons don't bulge out when wearing the jacket, maintaining a clean neckline. The necktie uses an eye-catching lake blue, creating a vibrant visual contrast against the black-and-white uniform and exuding lively energy.
Props were a major focus of this shoot. For the handheld console held by Alice in Photo 2, we prepared a highly accurate physical prop. The interactive gestures with the phone and gaming console broke away from rigid static posing, adding a lively everyday touch to the characters. In addition, the signature halos not only needed to be faithful in shape but also considered for light translucency and stability during indoor shooting. Alice's green geometric halo and Yuuka's black halo created layered visual depth in the frame, matching the original lore perfectly.
Hair and makeup were also treated with corresponding attention to detail. Yuuka's purple twin-tails maintained a subtle matte finish, which, paired with layered eye makeup, captured the character's dependable, nurturing, and slightly authoritative presence. Alice's characterization leans towards pure innocence, so her makeup prioritized natural translucency; the dark hair and light-colored pupils looked particularly well-behaved in front of the camera. This "mom taking care of her daughter" interaction was reflected not only in the character settings, but also in our guided posing—such as helping straighten the collar or looking at the lens together during this Duo photoshoot.
The indoor lighting on shooting day was very gentle; to achieve this relaxed mood, we avoided overly heavy fill lights. The sofa scene in Photo 1 was ideal for capturing duo interactions, where the seated angle naturally brought our physical distance closer, conveying the cozy warmth of going out together. The standing full-body shot in Photo 2 more completely showcased the coordination of shoes, socks, and pleated skirt, especially the skirt length and the gentle flare of the pleats in motion, making the visuals feel much closer to real campus life.
Preparing the costumes, props, and makeup actually took considerable effort, particularly testing materials and patterns multiple times for two halos of completely different styles to achieve the results shown. During shooting breaks, we would also study how to adjust wig strands and garment label details—indispensable preparation for any great location shoot. Although behind-the-scenes shots aren't as retouched or pristine as main photo sets, this genuine, vivid state is often what lingers in memory. This outfit is truly suited for everyday photoshoots, retaining the original flavor of the source work while easily adapting to various settings. It was a thoroughly enjoyable shooting experience.
