A portion of my Day 1 photos from CICF is finally edited and ready! This casual outfit look for Gokou Ruri from Oreimo has actually been in the works for a while, as I really wanted to bring out Kuroneko's distinctive blend of tsundere charm and quiet, everyday demeanor. Once I put on the long purplish-black wig with blunt bangs, the character vibe clicked immediately.

For the costume, I chose a white camisole sundress; the tiered skirt and lace trimming are remarkably faithful to the original design, paired with a woven straw hat adorned with a pink satin ribbon. To prevent the look from appearing too plain, I paid extra attention to the eye makeup to enlarge the eyes and enhance that moe aesthetic, while keeping the base makeup exceptionally translucent and clean.

The outdoor lighting at the convention was wonderfully bright and abundant that day, which worked brilliantly for this airy, vibrant Japanese photography style. To match the ensemble, I opted for simple, subtle posing. Standing beside the metal bollard with legs slightly crossed and hands resting behind my back felt ideal for conveying her demure, introverted nature. Another bust shot of holding the brim of the hat with one hand was aimed at catching that candid moment of the breeze blowing by or adjusting the hat, looking straight into the camera to create a sense of direct engagement. There's also a shot reaching both arms forward—a composition suggested by the photographer to add emotional tension, almost as if asking for a hug from the viewer on the other side of the screen.

Walking around the convention in this outfit was actually quite comfortable. I paired it with white platform sandals, so my feet never felt fatigued even after a full day on my feet. There were quite a few people along the street that afternoon, with passersby occasionally stopping to take pictures. Personally, I prefer the feeling of natural outdoor breezes—it feels so much more authentic than a studio shoot. During candid snaps, maintaining a relaxed facial expression is key, especially since the wig is heavy, so keeping the bangs from parting awkwardly was crucial to avoid ruining the look.

While sorting through the photos, I noticed how nicely the street setting complemented the styling; thanks to the beautiful background bokeh, the subject stood out vividly. The arc of the skirt hem fluttered with graceful lightness whenever I turned or walked. The shoot went smoothly overall, and I managed to capture several close-ups I'm genuinely thrilled with. If given the chance later on, I'd love to try out more of Gokou Ruri's various iconic looks across different arcs and explore more visual storytelling across different lighting conditions.
