[Gokou Ruri Cosplay] Boarding the Tama Train to Recreate Kuroneko from My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute

The final stop on this Tama Train journey has arrived, and the rest of the photos are finally organized. The character cosplayed this time is Gokou Ruri—also known as Kuroneko—from My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute. Honestly, when deciding on this shoot, my immediate reaction was that I had to find a vintage tram to match. Learning about this Cat train known as the Tama Train, with its black exterior and wooden interiors, felt like the perfect resonance with Kuroneko's persona.

First, a bit about hair and styling. To capture Kuroneko's signature look, I wore a long straight black wig trimmed with a blunt straight fringe. For the outfit, I selected a white sleeveless camisole sundress featuring delicate ruching at the bust and a flared A-line skirt trimmed with lace along the hem. The headpiece was a wide-brimmed straw hat adorned with lace and woven details, paired with off-white platform lace-up sandals. I initially considered pairing it with black stockings, but outdoor summer platform temperatures were simply too scorching; going bare-legged with sandals felt much more fitting for that breezy summer freshness and slice-of-life realism.

Shooting inside the carriage was the main highlight. The Tama Train interior preserves remarkably intact vintage details: dark polished woodwork, patterned fabric seats, old-fashioned metal hanging strap handles, and frosted geometric-textured train windows. Sunlight filtering through the glass cast gorgeous light patches across the cabin. Whether seated or holding onto the straps, I kept my posture natural and relaxed, keeping my eyes neutral and understated—since Kuroneko's characterization leans into being somewhat aloof and tsundere, there was no need to force smiles or act excessively cute. I particularly love the shot leaning against the window, using the bright exterior sunlight to create a rim-lit effect that produced bold contrast between my silhouette and the darker cabin interior. The whimsical cartoon animal artwork hanging inside the train was also delightful, injecting playful energy into the retro setting.

The exterior shots were primarily staged across the platform and nearby streets. In the background, the black-and-gold train (Car No. 2706) bore an imposing golden emblem on its front, effortlessly framing grand compositions with deep perspective. Along the tracks and sidewalks, I tried candid dynamic snapshots, letting the breeze catch my long hair and dress hem. Golden-hour sunset light washed over my face and dress, carrying its own warm-toned vintage warmth.

The entire shoot was quite physically demanding, given the noticeable temperature shifts between the carriage and outdoors alongside walking back and forth between the platform and streets. Yet immersing oneself in a cosplay shoot within such an evocative setting made stepping into character completely effortless. Without complicated props, the rich atmospheric setting and the clean tactile texture of the outfit were more than enough to anchor that everyday, subtly whimsical charm unique to Kuroneko.
