The venue selected for this shoot was a real-scene classroom in Shanghai, featuring wooden platforming paired with a dark green chalkboard, alongside a wooden easel equipped with paintbrushes and paint palettes—an atmospheric match perfect for a relaxed daily rhythm. The look was set around Gojo Satoru's classic black Chinese-style mandarin collar top and round sunglasses, paired with loose black trousers and thick-soled Martin boots. The costume's tailoring is crisp and structured, with the gold button at the collar serving as an excellent visual anchor in the all-black ensemble. The white wig was styled with deliberate fluffiness and messy texture, which, combined with the iconic small sunglasses, naturally exudes an offhanded, nonchalant aura the moment the glasses are put on.
The first set of shots took place mainly in the real-scene classroom area, where cute stick-figure doodles of cats and rabbits were drawn on the blackboard, creating a fun, contrasting dynamic against the character's cool black-outfit and white-hair look. Working with the photographer went smoothly; rather than forcing overly dramatic posed stills during Classroom photography, casual postures like tilting the head or leaning sideways conveyed an effortless, easygoing demeanor. The landscape oil painting on the easel to the left featured vibrant colors that nicely balanced the deep tones of the wooden furniture, adding a touch of everyday life to the frame.
When switching to the blue backdrop studio shoot, we primarily utilized a white cylindrical plinth to construct the composition. Poses like sitting on the edge of the platform or crouching atop it actually captured the character's lazy yet arrogant charm much better than simple standing. Placing hands casually on the knees naturally guided the viewer's gaze toward the boots and sunglasses. The solid blue background paper also made the extensive black outfit stand out prominently under crisp, clean lighting—which is why I personally favor this particular set.
Throughout the shoot, I kept thinking about how captivating this character's contrasting nature is—usually goofy and casual on the surface, yet possessing uncompromising self-expectation deep down. Therefore, when making movements during this Anime cosplay session, I strove to strike the right balance between being loosely relaxed and fundamentally confident. For instance, the single finger pointing up toward the sky pays homage to the character's classic domain expansion/technique gestures, creating a wonderful sensation of breaking the fourth wall.
The overall production efficiency of these Shanghai client photos was very high because everyone held a unified understanding of both the scene and the character. The warm lighting of the real-scene set and the cool lighting of the studio shoot nicely demonstrated different facets of the character: one playful in daily life, and the other purer with a stronger spatial presence. For characters with a more relaxed casual style suitable for events or HoYo Wonderful House themes, I genuinely enjoy this approach where, without needing dynamic action poses, the character's aura is conveyed purely through posture and gaze. Bringing this sense of relaxed ease before the camera is my own personal interpretation of cosplay as a passion.
