[Marisa Kirisame cosplay] Recording of a Touhou Project fanon magician costume

This set of Marisa Kirisame fanon costume is finally finished shooting! Taking advantage of the heat right after exporting the photos, I'm here to share the details of this shoot with everyone. I've cosplayed characters from Touhou Project quite a few times, but this time I chose a heavy-crafted fanon leaning towards Lolita fashion. From costume preparation to the final output, it went through quite a few trials.

Let's talk about the costume itself first. What attracted me the most and tortured me the most about this outfit was that extremely exaggerated wide-brimmed hat. The hat is stacked with multiple layers of thick white lace, covered with golden star embroidery, and spliced with black-and-gray lace trim on the inside of the brim for color contrast. Because the hat brim is huge and has a certain weight, I almost had to support it with my hand the entire time during the shoot, which really tested my arm endurance. After finishing the shoot, I felt like my biceps got a workout. The wig was chosen in a bright gold, and the hair ends were styled into side-braided pigtails, which not only added layering to the styling, but also matched the somewhat unrestrained and lively feel of a magician.

I also did a lot of homework for the makeup part. To match the blonde hair, I wore yellow contact lenses, enlarged the eye contours as much as possible, and swept a large area of orange-red blush on the outer corners of the eyes and cheeks, trying to create that quirky doll-like atmosphere. The post description said 'trying very hard to wink,' and that is truly heartfelt. During the shoot, the photographer kept guiding my emotions, and to capture a perfect dynamic blink, I used my facial muscles many times. However, seeing that playful feel in the raw photos, this effort did not go to waste.

The skirt hem of the lower body is also a highlight. The multi-layered fluffy skirt combines black fabric with gold stars and intricate white tulle lace, coupled with a brown leather corset around the waist, making the overall texture very structured. When walking, the wave layering of the skirt hem is very obvious in the lens. In terms of accessories, white tulle sleeves and a ring embedded with a blue gemstone added a touch of cool-toned accent to the overall black, white, and gold color scheme.

The shooting environment chose an indoor setting with wooden doors and windows, featuring green plants and warm-toned light spots in the background, creating the illusion of resting in a magical forest. To echo the star elements on the hat and skirt, I added some yellow-and-white star doodles and sparkling special effects in post-processing, making the frame closer to a 2D atmosphere. Although the entire shooting process involved wearing heavy clothes and occasionally grooming the wig, for someone who loves Touhou Project, interpreting a fanon with one's own understanding is a very fulfilling thing. The overall color matching and clothing details all demonstrated my love for this styling, and it can be considered a satisfying creative experience.
