[Marisa Kirisame cosplay] Daily Life of a Magician in a Greenhouse Garden: Touhou Project - Image 2

Shooting as Marisa Kirisame (Marisa Kirisame cosplay) this time was a truly delightful experience. This outfit is packed with so many intricate details, from the oversized wide-brimmed witch hat to the black-and-white maid-style apron, and that prominent large bow on the back. The white lace trim along the hat brim took a lot of care to style properly; to capture that playful charm of darting through the Forest of Magic, I specially prepared lace-trimmed bloomers and chunky platform ankle boots. The pentagram streamers on the skirt are another favorite detail of mine, floating with such whimsical flair whenever I walked. Most central of all was that massive broom—a solid wood handle bound with broomcorn bristles that felt wonderfully substantial in hand, giving the genuine illusion of being ready to take flight at any moment to collect grimoires. To swing this hefty broom naturally, I made sure to warm up my wrists before shooting and find the optimal pivot points for each swing.

The shooting location was a greenhouse garden with exceptionally clear afternoon light; warm sunlight filtered through the glass canopy and lush vines onto my shoulders, creating a cozy palette that barely required any post-processing. The lush flora in the garden paired flawlessly with the broom prop, immediately maximizing the atmospheric depth. At one point, Master Guan was searching for angles with the camera while I stood holding the broom, preparing to swing it; Master Guan suddenly pivoted the lens and captured the exact instant I glanced back over my shoulder. The skirt flared up in sync with the sweeping broom—a dynamic take I absolutely adore, with rich composition and wonderful spatial depth.

I have to say, the hit rate of great shots during this session was extraordinarily high. Once the previews arrived, I spent an entire day agonizing over the selections because there were simply too many stunning captures. For instance, in the profile shot glancing over my shoulder, the arc of the skirt and the chiaroscuro lighting aligned to perfection; in the frontal portrait adjusting the hat brim, both the smile and the eye contact were spot-on. The color grading was seamless, preserving the organic natural light and warm tones without over-saturating, keeping my skin tone healthy and the fabric textures authentic. For outdoor location shoots like this, balancing natural lighting and post-processing color grading is critical—the character must feel organically rooted in the backdrop to evoke that seamless fairytale immersion.

Shooting inside this greenhouse meant managing the physical weight of the prop while preserving effortless agility in every movement. Especially when twirling in the bloomers and tiered skirt, calibrating kinetic force was crucial to ensure the hemline and star ribbons floated in their most flattering arc. Achieving these results certainly took plenty of sweat that day, but the second I saw the finished photos, all fatigue melted away. This Marisa Kirisame styling not only fulfilled my dream of being an ordinary magician, but captured countless cherished moments before the lens. Through this shoot, I gained valuable practical experience wielding heavy props and unlocked a fresh perspective on dynamic on-camera expression. I hope this photo set brings everyone that pure joy belonging to the Forest of Magic.

Prior to the shoot, the photographer and I spent a long time discussing the tonal direction of the photos. We agreed unanimously that stiff, forced posing was unnecessary; our primary goal was to capture organic, vibrant moments. Thus on set, I spent most of the time strolling back and forth with the broom or performing light hops and skips. This candid snap approach consistently captures deeply evocative shots. The dimensional layers of the costume shone at their absolute best in motion—both the black-and-white ruffled tiers and the ruched cuffs of the bloomers came alive through kinetic movement.

Though the broom was heavy, it became my absolute favorite interactive prop. Whether dragging it along the ground with one hand or lifting it with both hands as if preparing for liftoff, each stance channeled a distinct emotional rhythm. The pose in Photo 2 stands out especially: one hand steadying the hat brim and the other gripping the broom with a slight forward lean not only highlighted the adorable tailoring of the garment, but radiated pure mischievous charm.

When curating the final edits, those two highly dynamic captures left me in a dilemma. The flying hemline in the glance-back shot and the obedient, spirited charm in the frontal portrait were equally impossible to pass up. In the end, I decided to share both, as different angles reveal unique facets of her character. Personally, I love the color grading across this series—it faithfully retains the authentic colors of the environment, letting the lush garden greens and the black-and-white wardrobe form a harmonious, comforting visual contrast.
