This shoot was actually prepared for a long time beforehand, mainly pouring a lot of effort into restoring this character's temperament. Diving straight into the topic, for the final look of this styling, the first time I saw that huge black wide-brimmed hat paired with lace trim, I knew it would be a highly demanding accessory. When I got my hands on it, the structural frame of the hat and the complexity of the lace far exceeded expectations. To make it overall look vintage yet carry a sense of weight, arranging the lace trim and adjusting the tilt angle of the hat alone took nearly half an hour. On the makeup side, to match the traits of a magician with long golden hair, the focus was placed on the treatment of the eye makeup. Today, I specially adjusted the curvature of the eyebrows to make them softer, with the eyeliner slightly upturned, and enhanced the sense of natural hair flow in the eyelashes. Many times people ask how to achieve stars in the eyes; aside from the lens's own light capture, the angle of the false eyelashes and the highlight embellishments under the eyes also played a major role. The density of the eyelashes shouldn't be too exaggerated, otherwise it will block the original luster of the pupils, conversely making them look dull. The highlights were used very restriantly, dotted only at the inner corner of the eye and directly underneath the pupil, so that when the lens zooms in, the gaze appears clear and focused. Combined with the slightly reddened eye area, it indeed manages to build an emotional atmosphere, which is what netizens jokingly call the melancholic magician. These two photos are actually a facial close-up and a half-body crop from the final Marisa cosplay photoset. Because the costume's neckline design is relatively ethereal, with off-the-shoulder cuts and tulle, the presentation of the neck and shoulder lines was very crucial. The shooting day was actually a bit sweltering, but to maintain the crispness and texture of the lace trim, I still tried my best to control my posture to avoid excessive sweating that would wet the gauze around my neck and chest. The dress is a patchwork of off-white and champagne, and the blue gemstone at the neckline is a custom-made accessory, secured right in the middle of the bow with a pin, adjusting its angle slightly to ensure it serves as one of the visual centers. The photographer for this photoset is very creative. This time we deliberately avoided the usual bright magical forest backdrop and instead found a venue with more wooden structures and slightly dim lighting, pursuing a quieter and more melancholic atmosphere. In this environment, the main light source hits from the side, creating a great sense of volume on the hair strands and lace, while also allowing the light and shadow to generate well-spaced contrasts of light and dark on the face. The prop staff was also specially custom-made by a carpenter, offering a very solid grip from the real wood. When shooting the facial close-up, the light happened to reflect a star-shaped catchlight in the eyes; that moment was actually a pleasant surprise, and we immediately caught it. Post-production focused on enhancing the texture of light and shadow while preserving the authentic texture of the skin. I don't wish for excessive skin smoothing to result in a loss of character texture; after all, reasonable skin details are also a vital part of the character's realism. When cropping this facial close-up image, I intentionally left out the obscuring part of the bangs and the braid on one side, allowing the gaze to naturally move along the texture of the braided hair to the facial focus. That beam of light passing through the gaps in the wooden frame was actually very unforgiving; if the position shifted even slightly, the profile of the face would completely melt into the shadows. Therefore, shooting this kind of light heavily tests cooperation. The photographer accurately captured the moment the light hit the body and face, yielding the final finished photos everyone sees now for this Cosplay photography project. This shoot was not only a tribute to the character but also a highly enjoyable attempt at personal expressiveness.
