[Marisa Kirisame cosplay] Magician of Touhou Project, Shooting Black and White Fantasy in a Wooden Cabin Attic

With a black-and-white dress and golden twintails, I completed this Marisa Kirisame cosplay photoshoot in Zhujiu Studio's magical attic. Many people's impression of Marisa Kirisame might be her traditional black-and-white witch garb, but I chose a version featuring black lace and abundant white ruffled trims for this Gothic Lolita outfit. Paired with the wooden attic environment, I wanted to capture a daily life feel of the magician that differs from in-game settings, possessing a more lived-in atmosphere.

The sleeves of this outfit are very special, utilizing translucent black gauze that echoes the large wide-brimmed white hat, with stars and lace patterns accentuating the fabric surface. On the lower half, I chose white shorts paired with a White thigh-highs outfit and black platform boots that match the outfit elements. The boot tops also feature lace trimming, keeping the overall styling harmoniously delicate within the black-and-white contrast. Because the costume layers are quite complex, the warm yellow strip LED lights in the magical attic served as a wonderful light source, casting over wooden wall panels and flooring to provide both forest cabin warmth and clearly outlined contrast borders between white thigh-highs and black boots.

Under the photographer's lens, we experimented with a completely tilted composition. Many people are used to shooting subjects level and straight, but this time I sat by a round table in a relaxed state, intentionally stretching my legs out, and the photographer naturally tilted the frame. The Dutch angle broke traditional vertical and horizontal lines, elongating the lines of the white thigh-highs and boots while conveying through the lens the cozy feel of a magician casually waiting for a visitor. Meanwhile, holding the massive wide-brimmed hat with one hand kept my head from looking isolated in frame while using the large area of white lace along the brim to form the visual focal point.

For makeup and styling details, I combed the light golden wig into braided pigtails on both sides, which shifted the visual weight downward toward the dark garments on my upper body. I didn't deliberately hold a broom or other signature props this time, focusing instead on restoring daily postures, so the overall feel of the photos isn't overly forced, but rather exudes the mood of a magician accidentally caught off-guard by a friend during a break. I personally love this state that relies purely on shooting angles and costume details without exaggerated wide-angle distortion.

Regarding the state during shooting, because the wooden floor was firm, combined with the physical feedback of platform boots and thigh-highs, I could easily stretch my legs out and relax. To shoot this outfit well, one doesn't necessarily need a lavish scene; a wooden cabin like this with warm light sources and a simple black round table provides enough narrative background for the frame. This costume put a lot of effort into details, such as the black gauze and star elements at the sleeves—if shot head-on horizontally, those details would look cluttered, whereas adopting a diagonal Dutch angle composition lets line-of-sight follow leg contours all the way to the hat brim, creating greater structural tension.

Finally, the finished photos matched my imagination of this character. In the Touhou Project series, she is a powerful magician as well as a character full of everyday energy. This look, with a touch of gothic elements yet deeply rooted in daily life, fits the artistic atmosphere of Zhujiu Studio's magical attic wonderfully. Realistic lighting, extreme black-and-white contrast, and a vintage wooden cabin backdrop ultimately set the tone for this work in Wooden cabin environment photography.
