[Moriya Suwako cosplay] Autumn Shrine Goddess: Convention photos Sharing

This shoot adhered to the lore of the forgotten deity and apex of native gods, while also aiming to capture an Autumn atmosphere. When I received this Moriya Suwako cosplay costume, what gave me the biggest headache was that massive straw-woven headpiece and the white veil at the back. The environment at comic conventions is quite cluttered, so to capture the ethereal aura of a deity in a shrine, camera language is crucial. During the shoot, I stood on a white round platform; being completely barefoot without tights and wearing a golden anklet on my ankle helped better showcase the subtle details of the character lore. After coordinating with the photographer, we primarily used backlighting and strong background bokeh to filter out the messy convention hall backdrop, making the overall atmosphere much cleaner.

For hair and makeup, I paired a light blonde wig with pale yellow pupils, intentionally enhancing the reddish-orange eye makeup to look more ethereal than ordinary human characters. The fabric choices were quite refined: the bottom half used fabric with geometric patterns and floral embroidery, while the top and skirt featured abundant semi-transparent white tulle and sheer veil, creating beautiful light translucency under the lights. The multiple layers of white veil made the skirt feel relatively heavy when standing, requiring practice in flicking the skirt hem with proper force to avoid looking sluggish. The lotus leaf prop in hand was moderately weighted, but holding it for extended periods still made my arms ache.

When choosing poses, I considered balancing divine majesty with playful innocence. The lotus leaf and golden ring are iconic props for the character; raising the lotus leaf with one hand or brandishing the golden ring created a light, dancing grace. But my personal favorite is actually that final photo sitting cross-legged. Standing on that white round platform offered little grip, so standing barefoot demanded substantial ankle strength to maintain balance. Sitting cross-legged was much more relaxing, with hands clasped together looking very pious and serene, revealing the lines of the calves and ankles while effortlessly reinforcing that distinctive divine mystery. Post-processing added light dust particle effects, taking the photo quality to another level.

Taking these Convention photos was quite exhausting because the setup was complex, requiring constant pose adjustments to let the white veil flutter without collapsing. Yet seeing the final results, that divine aura unique to the autumn season was perfectly captured. My understanding of the character deepened throughout the shoot, making it a wonderful Cosplay photography experience at the convention.
