Putting on this self-assembled Castorice battle pass avatar outfit and standing before the camera, my immediate feeling was a strong desire to stay as close as possible to her unique aura in Honkai: Star Rail.
Mentioning making omurice with such hands in the post title is actually a small inside joke of mine. When conceiving this cosplay, the very first elements decided upon were those white gloves, along with the heavily layered lace and ruffles on the dress. When wearing them, movements in my fingertips naturally grew gentle, as if truly capable of transmitting warmth to the spatula in front of me.
Many meticulous adjustments were made to the hair and Dreamy makeup and styling this time. The wig was custom-trimmed into a light purple gradient style; to match Castorice's soft, unassertive color palette in game, fine glitter powder was added to the upper layer, resembling starlight falling onto hair strands. The ears utilized translucent silicone elf ears, blending satisfactorily with the hair color. Eye makeup downplayed aggressive eyeliner, focusing on under-eye blending and blush gradient, deliberately widening eye distance alongside purple contact lenses to create a visual impression of innocence and translucency.
For outfit coordination, I selected a neckline design featuring white lace and a massive bow. While original Castorice settings often carry a cool, distant vibe, I wanted to integrate more everyday, healing elements into this avatar outfit. The small white high collar spliced with pale purple fabric, complemented by voluminous puff sleeves, made the entire look resemble an Elf-eared maid living in a fantasy land. Fabric selection leaned toward satin with subtle luster, allowing key light to create soft, rich reflective layering across shoulders and collar.
During shooting, warm indoor lighting was primarily controlled to foster a soft-focus, hazy ambiance. Glossy white gloves sometimes reflected light too brightly, so post-processing intentionally toned down highlights to render textures closer to satin rather than plain rubber. Due to the special veil and wig pairing of this battle pass avatar outfit, a compositional challenge was preventing the top of the head from being cropped while delivering facial expressions.
Early on, I was somewhat worried about OOC (Out of Character) issues, since Castorice is a highly popular character with vivid personality colors, and I feared my recreation wouldn't be accurate enough. Thus, I tried several facial expressions during shooting—aloof, cute with closed eyes, and hands crossed before my chest in prayer—finally selecting these few that felt most natural. As a first attempt, even with minor flaws, I hope everyone can feel my passion for the character.
Thoughtful effort went into coordinating accessories and styling as well. Small white daisies and lace trimming on the headpiece echoed the overall soft color palette, preventing broad purple areas from feeling overly heavy. A glossy peach shade was chosen for lipstick, giving lips a hydrated look. Ear accessories and collar lace used this time were specifically ironed beforehand to avoid distracting wrinkles from impairing overall refinement.
This post serves as a log of my everyday photoshoot journey. Rather than rigidly duplicating a specific pose, I prefer seeking small details bridging 2D anime culture with 3D real life. For instance, imagining a pair of hands wearing white gloves and a ruffled dress preparing a steaming hot plate of omurice might truly offer a unique sense of happiness.
Minor episodes occurred during shooting as well—such as frequently re-adjusting elf ear adhesive placement, or the wig being slightly heavy and causing excessive reflection under indoor lighting. Yet these are daily trifles encountered in cosplay, forming part of the experience itself. Through accessory details—like bows tied around wrists and white gloves—the overall visual completeness was constructed.
I always feel that doing cosplay isn't merely recreating outer appearance, but an emotional projection. Thus, when handling eye gaze this time, I intentionally avoided looking straight into the lens, or conveyed subtle emotions of confusion or resolve toward the camera, opting instead for a calmer recording perspective. I hope everyone can feel the gentle atmosphere intended behind these pictures—this special gentleness belonging to Castorice.
