This time, I brought Arknights Shu's Spring Banquet theme to shoot a set of photos for Japanese-style photography. The layering of the costume is extremely rich, with a bold color clash of bright yellow and rose red paired with white lace and plush trims. Combined with that iconic yellow-and-blue gradient braided hair and dragon horns, I am quite satisfied with the level of character accuracy.
During the shoot, I specially chose a Japanese-style tearoom, where the wooden tatami mats and lattice doors bring an inherent sense of serenity. Coupled with the pink cherry blossom branches and mossy stone scenery arranged by the studio, the entire atmosphere was instantly maximized. For lighting, a large area of warm soft light was used, which not only highlighted the vibrant colors of the costume but also made the skin texture look translucent. I particularly like the close-up frames of holding the teabowl, as they feel like they perfectly convey that gentle yet slightly mysterious aura of the character.
Posing in this look in front of the lens was quite a test of balance; the way the skirt hem spreads out when sitting on the floor, the lines of the legs, and the natural placement of the feet all required repeated adjustments to find the most relaxed angle. The FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens performed exceptionally well in the indoor space, accommodating both the depth of the scene and beautifully integrating the person with the environment. It was a highly fulfilling shoot, and I hope this Spring Banquet series allows everyone to experience a different side of Shu through this cosplay work.
