This shoot features a Marin Kitagawa cosplay in her Bunny girl look, selecting a vintage bar setting to recreate a languid yet subtly mysterious vibe. Under warm side lighting, the black patent leather bodysuit delivers spot-on reflective textures, creating a sharp visual contrast against the white collar and cuffs. The wig features a purple gradient tint, while the makeup heavily emphasizes eye contours to align with the character's disposition.
During the shoot, we experimented mainly with two seated positions—at the bar counter and on a leather sofa—using wine bottles, vintage newspapers, and retro lanterns to enrich the visual storytelling. In the dark-toned environment, warm light filtering through louvered blinds nicely traced body contours, especially the layered effect of Black stockings and garters. The cut of this costume heavily emphasizes waistlines and leg proportions, so camera angles were chosen with slight low angles or eye-level perspectives to maximize leg elongation.
In practical shooting, controlling the reflections on the patent leather fabric proved quite challenging, requiring repeated adjustments to the key light angle to prevent overexposed highlights. Simultaneously, stray reflections from bottles and glassware in the liquor cabinet tended to steal the focus, so black flags were used on-set for local flagging. Ultimately, the final shots met our expectations, maintaining shadow detail while highlighting shiny textures, perfectly capturing the overall mood.
To preserve character authenticity, we refrained from adding excessive original elements in terms of props, relying primarily on the scene's natural wood grain and warm ambient lighting. Compared to her design in My Dress-Up Darling, the Bunny girl look naturally carries a playful and confident air; thus, facial expressions avoided forced cuteness in favor of a relaxed, effortless composure that better fit the bar environment.
Post-processing focused mainly on adjusting color temperature and shadow tones to balance skin radiance with patent leather sheen, while darkening ambient stray light to make the subject pop. This set represents an exploration of a different style for this character in cosplay—focusing not on flashy composition, but on lighting, shadows, and texture expression.
