This time I participated in a floral-themed photography contest shoot, primarily showcasing this purple-and-white Vintage dress. The overall clothing design blends wide cuffs with a Western-style lace apron. To match this styling, I intentionally styled two symmetrical buns, decorated with white flower hair accessories on the hair buns. The makeup emphasized contours and blush, with deepened details in the eye makeup to make the overall look fit this dreamy atmosphere even better.
The shooting location was chosen in an area overgrown with larkspur and wisteria flowers. The wisteria draped down to form a natural waterfall background, combined with the green of the grass and the purple of the flowers, creating a very unified color palette. To increase the layered depth of the image, we also found a white grand piano on-site as a prop. During the shoot, a Sony mirrorless camera was used, and the large-aperture prime lens effectively utilized foreground flowers for blur, creating a hazy obstructing effect that highlighted the main subject.
In terms of lighting, the weather that day was relatively soft without harsh direct light; this diffused light was exceptionally well-suited for displaying the texture of the clothing and the colors of the flowers. When shooting lying down poses, I relaxed my body as much as possible, naturally lying sideways along the slope of the grass, resting my chin on one hand or slightly lifting it to touch the flowers, with my gaze not directly fixed on the lens, but looking through the gaps in the flower branches, creating a languid and natural feel. When shooting standing poses, the Sea of wisteria flowers was used as a background, carrying a brown vintage leather bag with the body slightly tilted, and one shot even deliberately leaning against a rough tree trunk, forming a textural contrast with the refinement of the clothing.
This shooting experience made me feel that large-area solid-color outfits photograph exceptionally well in a sea of flowers. The alternating purple-and-white color scheme is not only visually soft but also blends harmoniously with the natural environment. The multi-layered ruffles and lace of the skirt hem create beautiful pleats and a natural drape when walking or lying down, offering rich details under the lens. For friends who love vintage styles and Japanese style photography, such scenes and outfits are definitely worth trying. During the shoot, constantly paying attention to arranging the skirt hem and ensuring the flat edges of the lace can greatly enhance the completion level of the photos. Overall, the color reproduction and focusing speed of the Sony mirrorless camera left me extremely satisfied; even with complex skirt hems and foreground obstructions, it could precisely lock onto the subject's eyes.
