Before shooting this Priscilla Barielle cosplay photo set, the most time-consuming part was preparing the orange-gold wig. The hair strands needed voluminous layering, the top bun had to be secured in place using different-sized hair ties, and the long side bangs required careful styling to match the character's facial contour. For makeup, I specifically adjusted the angle of the eyeliner, pairing deep red colored contacts with upturned outer eye corners to capture the character's haughty demeanor under lighting reflections. The costume was a Red and black gown; the velvet fabric's luster heavily depends on lighting, so to highlight its texture in the studio, the lighting technician adjusted angles multiple times—side rim lighting brought out great texture on the golden cut-out collar ornament. The gesture of holding the Folding fan looked effortless, but to find the ideal angle, I repeatedly practiced opening and closing the fan in front of a mirror, ensuring the swing of the red and black tassels synchronized with the shutter speed. The second photo was a snapshot taken while doing a mirror selfie—initially wanting to test my newly bought camera, I obscured my face with the camera to leave a side full-body silhouette as a record. Without wearing stockings, the bare leg lines echoed the skirt's slit, which, paired with high-heeled black boots, brought out the character's elegance and sharp presence. The entire shoot lasted about four hours. The studio was quite warm, and the heavy red gown wasn't breathable, so I had to stand before a fan to touch up my makeup after each set of shots. While smoothing out the skirt hem, I noticed the black spiked ornaments along the edge were quite rigid, requiring extra care when sitting down to avoid scratching my skin. Although the process was demanding, seeing the high-contrast red and black silhouette and the naturally draped Folding fan in the final photos made all the coordination worthwhile, deepening my appreciation for how tailoring and prop design shape a character's persona. The work itself features a rich historical background and intricate characterization; though she is dominant and forceful, her external extravagance forms a stark contrast with her internal obsession—something I sought to convey before the camera through diverse gazes and body language. I will continue refining my hair, makeup, and camera presence moving forward, aiming to recreate this delicate blend of exquisite luxury and cool pride with even greater fidelity in my future cosplay journey.
