Shooting Eyjafjalla from Arknights was actually a bit of a spontaneous plan this time. To authentically convey the little sheep's soft, cuddly cuteness layered with subtle scholarly poise, I put a lot of effort into the wig and makeup beforehand. For the wig, I selected a fluffy light-brown style and deliberately styled an elongated strand on the right side to frame the face and enhance overall layered depth. For the eye makeup, I applied a generous wash of reddish-brown eyeshadow blended outward, paired with exaggerated, large-diameter colored contacts to give my gaze an innocent, sweet look. To stay faithful to the character design, the iconic little white horns atop my head were custom-crafted by a prop maker; though they look delicate and light, they actually carry some weight and required constant re-angling to avoid tilting askew during movements.
As for the outfit, I chose this pink dress. The fabric is comfortable to wear, and the puff sleeves beautifully accentuated her youthful maiden charm. The small bow at the neckline and the slim brown belt around the waist were key details faithful to the original design. Because the character's overall palette leans warm, I deliberately chose a wood-toned bedroom brimming with plush toys as the background, which fit Eyjafjalla's cute and cozy aesthetic seamlessly. The bunny plushies of all sizes scattered throughout the scene—some already at the studio, some brought from home—enriched the composition and helped me ease into a relaxed mindset much faster.
During the shoot, plenty of trial and error was involved. For instance, when sitting on the bed cradling the little bunny plush with both hands, I had to carefully manage the facial lighting to preserve the makeup's fine texture. Meanwhile, the shot of standing barefoot on the bed holding the giant blue bunny by its ears required immense core balance; the soft mattress made it easy to sink in, all while keeping my expression effortlessly sweet. To display the full sweep of the skirt hem and the weightless feel of bare feet, we fine-tuned the full-body angle back and forth several times. While prepping this cosplay, I studied her character art repeatedly. Eyjafjalla's eyes reflect a pure, gentle soul with a yearning for knowledge, so during the shoot, I consciously kept my gaze focused yet filled with mild curiosity. Prop textures were equally crucial: the red bowtie and crisp collar on the little bunny, as well as the bow on the large blue rabbit, were picked for their soft feel and rich color saturation to look their absolute best on camera. Bringing a 2D character across the dimensional divide truly relies on these tangible real-world details. The entire shoot wasn't just about recreating the character, but also an exercise in patience. Overall, it was a delightful experience—a little tiring, but seeing the final photos made every second worthwhile.
