This shoot of Sunohara Shun's swimsuit outfit from Blue Archive at Danfeng Covered Bridge in Guangzhou can be said to be my most satisfying outdoor stream photography experiment recently. To wait for a sunny day with perfect dappled light and shadows, I stayed in Guangzhou for quite a while. Finally, we got a bright sunny day, and I immediately rushed to this little creek hidden in the mountain forests with my gear. The final photos turned out exceptionally fresh and natural, beautifully capturing the character's agility and the refreshing summer atmosphere.

The light yellow-green halter-top and shorts set prepared before the shoot is made of very light and breathable fabric, which beautifully blends into the green natural backdrop. The butterfly hair accessory on the head with red fruit embellishments, paired with the twin-tails hairstyle, visually adds a touch of playfulness and cuteness. The orange circular hanger charm on the side of the waist, although small, acts as a wonderful contrasting color accent, breaking up the monotony of the overall light color scheme. For my overall makeup, I specifically adopted a highly clear and translucent look to avoid looking too powdery under the direct sunlight, while also better handling unexpected splashes when playing in the water.

The props used this time were also very interesting: a lotus leaf with a long stem and a small watermelon. The lotus leaf was not only a visual focal point but also acted as natural shade during the actual shoot to block out the glaring, direct sunlight. The photographer is exceptionally good at using the stem of the lotus leaf to create guiding lines in the frame, enhancing the sense of space in the composition. The watermelon was a prop that perfectly fit the summer theme. Sitting on the stone bridge cradling a watermelon and daydreaming built a very healing, lifelike atmosphere. Coupled with the gurgling sound of the creek, it instantly makes you feel immersed in a leisurely and cool summer afternoon.

For the shooting environment, the bamboo forest backdrop around Danfeng Covered Bridge was spectacular. Tall bamboo stalks and dense canopies intertwined to form a natural green vault. Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, hitting the moss-covered stone bridge and the crystal-clear creek, creating beautiful out-of-focus bokeh. These natural light effects can never be replaced by studio shoots; without much extra light bouncing, we were able to capture a soft light with a film-like texture.

We had to pay close attention to safety during the process because the rocks in the stream were covered in moss and were extremely slippery. I almost slipped several times, but fortunately, the photographer was quick-witted and caught me. To make the water splashing effect look more authentic, I repeatedly crouched down to scoop up water and tossed it into the air. The moment the water droplets were illuminated by the sunlight in mid-air was stunning, but it also meant the clothes got easily soaked, so preparing a change of clothes was absolutely essential.

In terms of posing guidance, the photographer and I collaborated with great chemistry. Lowering the camera angle could elongate the leg lines while highlighting the dynamic rush of the flowing water. Subtle actions like cradling the watermelon, blocking the sun with the lotus leaf, or splashing water with bare feet didn't force any stereotypical cute poses. Instead, they followed the actual logic of the scene, naturally blending into the stream. This relaxed, loose vibe actually gives the photos more vitality.

For Sunohara Shun's character aura, her swimsuit design inherently calls for an unpretentious, innocent charm, and I believe this outdoor stream photography session successfully fused the character's attributes with the natural environment. Taking advantage of Guangzhou's summer to go deep into the valley for summer stream trekking and capturing this set of works was a deeply healing creative experience for me. I truly enjoyed the freedom and coolness of summer in front of the lens in this Anime cosplay project.
