This is a cosplay photoshoot set released right before Spring Festival, themed around Xiao Qiao from Honor of Kings. This time, I specially chose a cozy, healing setting, aiming to break away from Xiao Qiao's usual lively and cute image to present her resting quietly in the rift during a lazy afternoon.
The color scheme of the entire outfit is immensely soothing. The mint green wig paired with plush animal ears and star hair clips creates a soft, adorable look. The loose, comfortable off-shoulder white sweater on top avoids stiff posing on camera, while the yellow chunky knit scarf serves as the highlight of the look—not only brightening the ensemble visually but also effectively softening facial contours and adding depth. Pink and yellow cat paw badges on the shoulder add playful detail, exuding a warm winter sun ambiance. The blue, yellow, and white geometric pleated skirt on the bottom, alongside knee-high socks adorned with star patterns and ribbon ties, are subtle styling highlights that maintain character recognition while adding plenty of dreamlike Anime cosplay charm.
The shooting scene was mainly completed in a meticulously decorated indoor studio set. The wooden cottage window frame set was custom-built by the photographer; soft, translucent light filtered through white window drapes, creating a clean, airy feel. I leaned casually against the wooden window frame with relaxed postures, naturally resting my hands on the wood edge and casting my eyes away from or gently towards the camera. The wooden grain, white sheer curtains, and swaying pink-and-white flowers on the sill built a warm, serene spatial atmosphere. Another shot set in the flowers was specifically taken to echo the relaxed concept of "sleeping in the rift." Hugging a huge cartoon plush pillow surrounded by an acoustic guitar, pink feather decorations, and faux turf on the ground, lying gently on it felt like finding a personal secret haven deep inside the rift.
This theme aligned nicely with the cozy New Year photoshoot vibe. Although it is a cosplay project, it set aside noisy holiday bustle in favor of a comfortable, peaceful New Year atmosphere—simply enjoying a tranquil, lazy afternoon in the rift. During the shoot, we spent significant time tweaking costume details, such as wig fluffiness, strand directions, and scarf wrapping methods, trying multiple variations to achieve a natural, effortless look.
From a photography technique perspective, the photographer utilized side backlighting extensively, which created a stunning rim light along the edges of my hair, giving the mint green wig a luminous and translucent sheen. In terms of composition, ample negative space was deliberately left—whether in the white framing of the wooden window or the placement of flowers and the guitar—creating a natural pictorial quality. The pink ribbon ties on the knee-high socks were a crucial detail; they needed to be positioned accurately while preventing distortion from sitting or lying down, requiring meticulous checks whenever postures shifted.
To capture the relaxed feeling of "sleeping in the rift," my body language remained intentionally loose and unforced. Rather than dramatic poses, focus was placed on interacting with props, such as cuddling the cushion or leaning on the window frame. The sweater's drop-shoulder design demanded posture awareness—keeping shoulder height aligned to prevent slouching preserved neck lines and sweater silhouette. Since I only wore socks on set, moving across the artificial turf required extra caution to keep the socks spotless.
Ultimately, I feel the final shots beautifully captured this quiet, adorable ambiance. Many girls fall into the trap of over-exerting or over-calculating when trying cosplay, but for a character like Xiao Qiao who inherently radiates a gentle aura, presenting her through natural, everyday interactions touches audiences far more deeply. Without complex emotional pretenses, sitting quietly by the window or lazily holding a big plushie allows her quiet beauty to shine through effortlessly.
Looking at this set of photos exported on my computer fills me with great satisfaction. Thanks to the photographer's meticulous set building and hard work, as well as the unique texture brought by this costume. In this work, I found a subtle balance between character and self, experiencing the joy of "resting in the rift" in a fully relaxed state. Looking at these photos, can you feel the overflowing gentle healing vibe? If so, consider this photo set a small gift for the New Year.
