This time, I cosplayed Ushio Kofune from Summer Time Rendering. It is the height of midsummer, and both the temperature and lighting are very close to the settings in the work. When choosing the shooting locations, I specially looked for places with Japanese-style wooden buildings, old street corners, and a seaside lighthouse, hoping to replicate the atmosphere of that seaside town in Wakayama from the anime. The first and second photos are taken standing in front of a wooden shed on the old street. The sunlight beams straight down from above, which, paired with the long blonde hair, makes the whole look appear exceptionally refreshing. Actually, I encountered some difficulties during the photoshoot. For instance, the lighting contrast in front of the wooden shed was massive, requiring a reflector to fill in the shadow details and ensure the light and shadow on my face remained clean.

For this Japanese-style JK uniform, I chose the short-sleeved white variant with a deep blue sailor collar and a matching pleated skirt, classic and timeless. What I'm most satisfied with is the color of the wig; instead of a glaring bright yellow, I chose a softer pale gold, which fits better with Ushio's original setting and offers a translucent look with a clear hair-strand texture under the sun. The photo in the woods is meant to present a daily school vibe. Although Ushio sacrificed a lot to protect everyone in the story, at her core, she is still an ordinary high school girl, so the overall pose design is relatively relaxed and natural. The final photo sitting by the lighthouse counts as a classic tourist-spot composition. The sea breeze was strong, blowing my hair all over the place, which conversely added a bit of dynamic beauty.

The props prepared this time were actually very simple: a black single-shoulder backpack, a pair of white calf socks, and uniform shoes, basically restoring the character's casual outfit from the anime. When capturing characters with such clean temperaments, I also intentionally minimized the makeup—no heavy eyeshadow, only emphasizing well-defined eyelashes and a translucent base to highlight the skin's texture. Even though the weather was scorching, sweating a bit more was completely worth it for the final results. Looking at the frame inside the camera viewfinder, it felt as if I had traveled to that small town named Hitogashima. This feeling of being able to experience another world through Anime cosplay is truly fascinating. If I still have the energy in the future, I plan to shoot another set featuring that slightly mysterious scene where she encounters the shadow monster by the beach, bringing a different layer to this Summer vibe.
