[Shaula cosplay] Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-: Absolute execution of Master's orders

This time I bring you the Shaula cosplay from Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-. "Absolute execution of Master's orders" is a very famous phrase within the community and an important reason why I decided to cosplay this character.

The overall costume features a color-blocking match of black and yellow. A black halter crop top combined with black leather shorts, draped with a long cape on the outside, whose lining is bright yellow with a torn-off jagged design at the hem. The yellow chain wrapped around the neckline with black beads is the finishing touch. The wig uses a black-to-reddish-brown gradient style, tied into a side low ponytail with black star hair ties, paired with a pair of small yellow wing hair accessories on top of the head and green contact lenses, making the entire styling silhouette pop out.

For this shoot, multiple vintage hardcover books were prepared as props because Shaula herself has a deep connection with libraries and books. The studio shoot adopted a pure beige background with very bright lighting. To showcase body lines and the texture of the costume, various poses were tried during the shoot, such as spreading arms, making a finger heart, lifting one leg, or striking magic-casting postures. The black leather shorts and knee-high boots look very glossy under the lights, but wearing them for shooting is indeed quite stuffy and warm, especially needing to make large movements on the background paper, which is a test of physical stamina. The material of the leather boots is relatively firm; to fit the leg shape, some shaping props were added inside, striving to present the sharpest lines in front of the lens.

Because the cape has a large surface area, its angle needed constant adjustment during the shooting process. If the lighting position is incorrect, it easily swallows up the character's contour. The photographer repeatedly adjusted the angles of the key light and fill light so that the yellow lining could have great color performance even in shadows. The action of holding the books also required careful contemplation; the books shouldn't block too many facial features, and the posture must remain upright without looking stiff. Although knee-high boots look great, doing the single-leg lift pose specifically requires core strength; the finger heart photo took more than a dozen takes to select one with a natural posture.

Shaula's personality possesses a pure fanaticism and absolute obedience to her Master, alongside terrifying power. During the shoot, I tried my best to figure out that gaze carrying a bit of confidence and persistence. The black and yellow color scheme of this outfit is extremely striking visually, and the pairing of leather shorts and boots elongates the leg proportions. Although the process was tiring, seeing the final photos made everything feel completely worthwhile, and I thoroughly enjoyed this interpretation of the character.
