The inspiration for this shoot stemmed from the concept of a calm, windless sea. Even though we were positioned beside a pool rather than open ocean waters, pairing blue-and-white striped styling with azure water ripples sought to evoke the unwavering resolve of an embarked voyage. The wardrobe did not recreate a specific anime or game character, but drew upon a curated mix of Marine style and classic sailor motifs. The flat-topped blue-and-white striped cap on my head—adorned with braided golden cord, embroidered 'VENEZIA' lettering, and a metallic anchor pin on the flank—anchored the soul of this series. Matched with a horizontally striped blue-and-white bikini and sheer white chiffon shorts, it delivered a crisp visual aesthetic that harmonized effortlessly with the Summer pool theme.
To complement the styling, hair and makeup incorporated delicate nuances. Straight brown hair was styled with blunt fringe, while makeup accentuated the eyes, using pale contact lenses to keep my gaze luminous and clear. A beauty mark, lip piercing, and long sculpted white manicure were retained, lending the sweet styling a subtle edge of rebellious individuality. Sunlight was radiant throughout the day, beating directly across blue mosaic tiles and pool water to cast dazzling specular glints. Taking advantage of this natural bounce light, I posed seated along the pool's edge, extending both hands forward toward the lens to create playful foreshortened perspective while organically framing my silhouette and leg lines.
Shooting in water was trickier than anticipated. While the shallow pool was easy to stand in, preserving makeup while allowing the sheer sarong shorts to float gracefully across the surface demanded constant breath control and postural balance. Wading in the water, I lightly stabilized the cap's brim with one hand, leveraging mirrored water reflections to deepen dimensional tiers. Refractions off shifting ripples altered how light fell across the face, requiring the photographer to snap swiftly to seize the most flattering, uniform illumination. Evening brought no pause: I lit handheld sparklers, letting warm golden embers sparkle intensely against the cool blue water. Sparklers burn down in seconds, so capturing blooming sparks alongside focused eye contact required lighting several in succession while maintaining stability in chilly water.
Throughout the session, I avoided forced or exaggerated poses, favoring natural, spontaneous body language. Whether reclining along the pool's edge gazing up toward the camera or resting my chin on my hands upon submerged steps, the goal was keeping this Marine style Swimsuit photo authentic and alive. The glistening afternoon ripples, sheer white fabrics, and striped swimwear came together to evoke a crystalline, sun-drenched summer mood.
