[Cyrene Cosplay] Dreamy Tea Time in Honkai: Star Rail

For this Cyrene cosplay photoshoot from Honkai: Star Rail, I set the location in a studio with a European fairy-tale aesthetic to match the gentle tone of the character design. The fluffy pink wig required a lot of time to comb and layer properly, topped with a light purple gauze headpiece. The costume shoulders feature transparent layered designs resembling ice crystals or wings; since this material absorbs and scatters a lot of light in front of the lens, we repeatedly adjusted the key light angle during the shoot to bring out its intended translucency.

Scene decoration was the highlight of this photoshoot. The golden birdcage dessert stand in the middle of the frame is a resident prop at the studio, while the cream cake and mini puffs on it were custom fondants with remarkably realistic color and texture. The small floral teacup on the table was the finishing touch, instantly infusing the picture with an exquisite and adorable softness. Posing with props is really a test of patience; to avoid the wig and costume getting snagged on the dessert stand's grid, I leaned forward close to the table and found a relaxed resting point for my hands, which not only balanced the composition's center of gravity but also made my finger posture look natural and soft.

Regarding lighting adjustments, I specifically asked the photographer to apply soft lighting techniques. The main light in the studio leaned toward cool white, but I added a warm reflector on top so that the light falling on my face and pink hair created a soft, fluffy texture. The benefit of this setup was creating a natural strand texture along the edges of the wig while eliminating harsh reflections and shadows common in standard lighting. On the day of the shoot, we spent a full four hours in the morning, mostly adjusting the placement of the white iron chair and flower vines to ensure the perspective of background elements formed a harmonious depth with the subject.

For post-production color grading, I avoided heavy skin smoothing, preserving a slight natural skin texture instead. The unified tone across the set leaned toward a mix of soft purple and pale pink. To better fit this gentle, quiet atmosphere, I deliberately lowered the saturation of the stained glass background and muted the intense colors of the lace curtains, leaving more negative space in the frame to express a more relaxed and comfortable feel.

Translating a character from a 2D design into a warm 3D presentation involves tedious fitting, shooting, and editing processes. However, seeing that overflowing gentle atmosphere finally captured in the frame makes all the preparation completely worthwhile. Instead of forcing sharp gazes or exaggerated poses, quiet situational interactions like sipping tea or playing with props actually bring you closer to the character's core essence.
