[Cyrene Cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail Shoot at Firefly ACG Expo — Ripples of the Past

This time at Firefly ACG Expo, I shot this "Ripples of the Past" themed set of Cyrene Cosplay from Honkai: Star Rail. To achieve the best level of accuracy, a lot of time was spent preparing everything from makeup and styling to shoot logistics. Today I can finally share the behind-the-scenes details and shoot reflections with everyone.

First, let's talk about makeup and hair. Cyrene's most prominent feature is her fluffy pinkish-white hair, so I selected a light pink wig with silky white roots. Styling the strands took great attention—it shouldn't look heavy, but rather create a light and airy flowing feel. Head accessories and white branch-like hair clips needed to be meticulously secured between hair strands so they wouldn't fall off while running or posing at the crowded Firefly ACG Expo. To match her ethereal feel, I wore light purple contacts and applied pink-toned eyeshadow smudging, making my gaze look gentler and more dreamy.

The costume design is truly exquisite. The upper half features predominantly pure white with off-shoulder cutouts and asymmetrical hollow designs, lined with petal- or feather-like paneling packed with details. The white and light-purple spliced neckpiece serves as the upper body's visual highlight. The sleeves are semi-transparent, echoing the veil's material. The long, lightweight veil is a key feature; when the wind blows or during a spin, it naturally creates a fluttering atmospheric vibe. The lower half consists of a tri-color gradient skirt with a white inner layer joining sky blue and purple light gauze for distinct layers. The materials are carefully chosen—the mesh fabric isn't overly soft, holding the skirt's shape remarkably well.

I put extra effort into the leg details this time. I specifically wore light-colored semi-sheer stockings printed with white vine patterns, paired with white pointed high heels featuring purple-pink glitter gradient heels. These delicate accents quietly elevate the overall look's sophistication. At the expo, many visitors were interested in the vine patterns and shoes; indeed, these small details are crucial for boosting character accuracy.

During Cosplay photography sessions, we prepared huge white feather props adorned with colorful gradient edges. Paired with the light-toned outfit, they significantly enhance spatial depth and airiness in frame, creating a tranquil, dreamy mood. Being outdoors with ample natural diffuse light, we avoided harsh contrast, yielding a clean, translucent overall texture. The experienced photographer captured shots of me reaching toward the camera, utilizing foreground blur to heighten interactive engagement. For sitting poses, I arranged the giant feather props around me over a white plush rug, showcasing a comfortable posture even on outdoor pavers.

For a complete photoshoot, I believe beyond costume accuracy, capturing the character's core essence as a 2D anime girl is key. Cyrene exudes a gentle yet airy demeanor, so in front of the lens, I kept expressions relaxed and soft, avoiding exaggerated poses and letting the natural drape of the skirt and veil convey the mood. Although Firefly ACG Expo was crowded and complex, depth of field and smart angles kept main focus squarely on the model. Working seamlessly with the photography team to capture every detail made this busy yet enjoyable shoot a highly satisfying convention experience.
