[Black Swan cosplay] Honkai: Star Rail's Mysterious Fortune Teller

This Honkai: Star Rail Black Swan cosplay photoshoot required a lot of thought, from scene setup to costume customization. To recreate the dim and mysterious atmosphere of Honkai: Star Rail, the entire studio was decorated in dark purple tones. Black tulle and purple flowers covered the bed, surrounded by crystal candleholders with white candles and vintage birdcages, while the hollowed-out screen in the background cast a deep blue light. This costume has an abundance of details, including a purple corset with cutouts, an exquisite and mysterious gemstone decoration on the neck, and a purple hood featuring silver totems. Wearing and arranging all of these required immense patience, especially the purple arm sleeves and black long gloves, which had to be smoothed out completely wrinkle-free to look their best. The thigh straps and black over-the-knee boots needed to fit the leg lines snugly, with the golden patterns on the boots reflecting a metallic texture under the lights. To accentuate the tension of the overall styling, I wore Black stockings underneath, allowing the visual effect of the legs to remain smooth during various poses while seamlessly blending into the dark background.
The shooting process was full of challenges and fun. To portray the character's languid and mysterious nature, I tried a variety of poses. For example, lying on the couch with arms slightly raised required hovering the waist using core strength while keeping a relaxed facial expression. Sitting poses called for crossed legs and a slight body tilt, letting the draping purple fabric and black tulle spread out naturally. When holding the dark sphere prop, my gaze had to coordinate with hand movements to evoke a fortune-telling or spellcasting vibe. Moving around on the tulle-covered couch was actually quite easy to trip over, and coupled with high-heeled long leather boots, every step demanded extreme caution; ironically, this helped me find the character's composed and unhurried pace much faster. The photographer emphasized body curves and leg lines in the composition, and I cooperated by adjusting my gaze and posture, striving to capture the best state at every shutter click. For instance, I would deliberately lower my line of sight or raise a hand to partially cover my face to heighten the mysterious feel of the frame, while utilizing scattered card props to guide the audience's visual focus to the center.
Lighting design was a major highlight of this shoot. The blue-purple ambient light intertwined with the warm white light of the candleholders, casting a dreamy yet dark filter over the entire scene. To match this interplay of light and shadow, the makeup featured cool-toned eye makeup paired with vibrant red lips, and a fair base makeup to make the contours more three-dimensional. This collaboration with the Blue sky photobook was exceptionally harmonious; from the makeup artist's meticulous detailing to the photographer's precise control over lighting, every single link greatly elevated the quality of the final photos. As a 2D culture enthusiast, encountering such thoughtful set design and a professional shooting team made for an immensely satisfying experience. We repeatedly adjusted composition and lighting, often needing a dozen test shots just to fine-tune the angle for a single final photo. This process of continuous refinement is precisely the charm of cosplay. Hopefully, these photos combining gothic and fantasy styles will let everyone experience the unique appeal of the character.
