For this Zenless Zone Zero Hoshimi Miyabi cosplay photoshoot, extensive preparations were made. The oversized turquoise coat billowed under the studio fan as I moved, complementing the over-the-shoulder glance in the standing shot to perfectly convey the character's cold and composed demeanor. The sword in hand was a custom-made prop with built-in LEDs along the blade, projecting an eerie cyan glow against the seamless white cyclorama that looked remarkably textured. However, capturing such glowing props puts lighting control to the test: if the key light is too bright, the blade's illumination is washed out, but if it is too dim, the subject gets underexposed. Photographer Junjun and I fine-tuned the light positions repeatedly before achieving the ideal balance in our Photography.
In comparison, the crouching stance was far more demanding. To faithfully recreate her combat posture, my center of gravity had to be pressed down very low while keeping my core engaged, pulling out sleek and defined leg lines. Clad in Black stockings and platform lace-up boots, this pose accentuated leg proportions beautifully. However, crouching for extended periods caused numbness in my feet, requiring breaks to stand and stretch between takes. The necktie, the yellow insignia across the chest, and the white sawtooth waist accessories were all meticulously arranged to mirror the official design.
The grayish-black Bunny ears paired with the long ponytail wig heightened the character's dynamic motion. Especially in the crouching shot, the sweeping trajectory of the ponytail frozen by the shutter injected immense dramatic tension into the frame. To ensure flattering angles, I controlled the tension in my shoulders so the prosthetic mechanical arm posed naturally without looking rigid. Sincere thanks to Liudou Sanxu for the coordination and photographer Junjun for their patience, allowing us to capture these natural movements. As a deeply satisfying studio Photography experience, post-processing preserved the authentic textures of the Black stockings and fabric. The workflow went smoothly and granted me a deeper connection with this character—a truly meaningful cosplay journey.
