[Nico cosplay] The Pink Cunning Hare of Zenless Zone Zero — Casual Convention Snapshots

Preparing this Nico gear took quite a while, from custom wig styling to leather pattern drafting. Especially the black harness with metal rivets and the double-layered belt at the waist—to fit the character's cool, sassy, and cheeky personality, I adjusted the buckle holes multiple times. When shooting this set in the convention hall's indoor corridor, the lighting was rather complex with cool glass reflections and overhead spotlights. Fortunately, under cool key lights, the pink wig revealed a soft, gentle texture, creating a pleasing contrast against the black leather jacket and Black over-the-knee stockings.

Because the prop's yellow handle is relatively short, pinching it between my legs was prone to slipping. For the clamped pose shown in the photos, I tested it several times to find the center of gravity—neither looking too stiff nor losing that effortless, playful feel. The glossy black platform boots are the soul of this Anime cosplay styling. Honestly, standing for so long made my ankles ache, but their lustrous sheen on the reflective floor tiles added immense value. Especially in Photo 3 when lifting my leg, the reflection between the boot sole and the floor added striking depth to the composition.

The white cropped top on the upper body has very deliberate tailoring; the diagonal stripes must align with the camera to guide the viewer's gaze, so while posing I constantly adjusted my torso's twist angle. The red badge on the jacket is a nice subtle accent; though small, it enlivens the overall monochrome-and-pink palette. The makeup artist specifically added a touch of green blending at the outer eye corners to echo the pale green contacts, making my gaze sharper and true to her sly, confident persona.

During the shoot, there happened to be a small yellow scooter prop nearby, which we borrowed as background dressing, and the orange-and-white striped awning added a lived-in street atmosphere, preventing the indoor grey brick wall from looking too monotonous. Capturing convention photos truly tests how to keep the subject's center of gravity stable amid a noisy hall. The folding chair we used had just the right height, allowing the leg length and boot proportions to stretch out comfortably while seated. Moreover, the gesture in Photo 3—touching the hair ends with one hand while keeping the other hand on the hip with a slight forward lean—formed a flattering triangular composition between waistline and shoulders. Meanwhile, the Black over-the-knee stockings and thigh harness layered the leg lines nicely, with the sheer dark material catching subtle light without looking flat.

Whenever cosplaying characters that combine combat elements with casual flair, what brings the most joy is recreating these minor accessories—like the white wristbands and the black choker necklace. Alone they seem like small trinkets, but together they instantly manifest the character's distinct aura. Even though shooting all day caused strands of hair to stick with sweat a few times, seeing that relaxed yet cheeky smirk captured the moment the shutter clicked made everything worthwhile. We didn't artificially stretch leg lengths in post-processing, preserving the original anatomy and proportions because the visual weight of this styling rests squarely on the leather boots and strap design, where excessive stretching would ruin that rugged techwear functionality. Given the variable venue lighting, post-processing focused on balancing color temperature, highlights, and shadows to render skin and fabric textures translucently while maintaining the cool contrast of the grey brick walls and glass windows. Using a 50mm large-aperture lens created just the right background blur, highlighting the character without wiping out background prop details, with the black briefcase neatly anchoring the bottom-right corner for balanced framing. Overall, this Event photo delivery was an exhilarating experience; the fabric textures and accessory details easily hold up to close-up scrutiny, and I hope this photo set conveys her carefree, dashing swagger in this Nico cosplay.
