Taking advantage of the fine weekend weather, I brought this Arknights Skadi the Corrupting Heart cosplay outfit to the athletic track for an outdoor shoot. The red-and-black glossy satin Red formal dress reflects smooth, fluid lines under natural light. The sleeves are voluminous, and combined with the black horn headpiece and blue streamers, walking around created wonderful dynamic motion. The wig is long, white curly hair; styling it took some time, but fortunately the shape held well. The white bouquet prop in my hand was handmade by myself—blue wrapping paper paired with fluffy cloud-like decorations and accented with a small red-and-blue sphere, which harmonized seamlessly with the character's aura when held.
This shoot was primarily meant to echo the atmosphere of "Anomalous spectrum." We deliberately chose a real outdoor setting, where the red running track and green grass field served as a background, creating a bold color contrast against the red dress. Considering the photographer's composition, I experimented with different angles. The first photo is a frontal half-body portrait, tilting my head slightly toward the camera to focus on the makeup, styling, and facial expression; holding the bouquet prop helped conceal awkward arm postures. The second photo is a dynamic side-profile walking pose, where I gently lifted the skirt hem to reveal the leg lines, perfectly displaying the dress's tailoring and body proportions. Standing in the center of the field, the photographer used a telephoto lens to blur out the purple tents and passing pedestrians in the background, making the subject pop dramatically.
Because the fabric is somewhat stiff and the skirt is voluminous, posing wasn't easy; one careless step could cause tripping or disrupt the natural drape of the oversized sleeves. The red glossy satin also absorbs heat easily, making sweating outdoors inevitable, but that added a sense of warmth and authenticity to the photos. During the shoot, controlling facial expressions was crucial: colored contacts gave a cooler gaze, yet I had to capture that eerie, quiet tranquility. Touching up makeup, switching poses, and coordinating with the lighting took nearly three hours back and forth. I was very satisfied with the final shots, especially the second one, which felt completely cohesive in composition and character mood, capturing the exact vision for the day. Looking at these photos made all the effort feel completely worthwhile. While putting on this outfit is elaborate, it turns heads everywhere and brings an incredible atmosphere on site.
Sincere thanks to photographer Unforgettable Midnight Snack for the dedicated snapshots, and for preserving that warm, slightly vintage light and shadow during post-processing color grading, revealing a distinct beauty of this outfit in an authentic outdoor environment. I hope for more suitable locations and lighting in the future to interpret different styles and moods!
