This was my first outdoor shoot after swapping roles with @lioooooo. Last time I did Ch'en cosplay and she did Hoshiguma; this time we swapped, and I did Hoshiguma cosplay. After putting on the outfit, the biggest sensation was how strange it felt—last time wearing Ch'en's suit skirt was sleek and fitted, but swapping into Hoshiguma's black leather jacket and high collar felt like being completely bundled up. What's even crazier was the height issue: after my partner put on Ch'en cosplay's uniform and heeled boots, she was actually half a head taller than me in Hoshiguma, which comically defied the character settings! Since she's tall to begin with, combined with the visual effect of black stockings cosplay and long legs, standing next to her made me look surprisingly petite. While posing, we frequently had to adjust our footing to accommodate the height difference. I wore flat shoes while she wore higher-heeled boots, creating a comically intimidating contrast facing the lens.
This shoot was set by the urban riverside late at night. The wind was intense at night, blowing our wigs and outfits a bit messy, making fill lighting tricky. Thankfully, our support @Luochao was completely versatile—helping tidy up wigs and makeup while doubling as a lighting assistant. With chaotic roadside streetlights at midnight, using hard light yielded a sharp, edgy look. The photographer was also very patient, having us try repeatedly to find great angles. Especially to elongate leg proportions, lots of low-angle upward shots were taken, and the lighting gave Hoshiguma's leather jacket an awesome sheen.
Speaking of Ch'en cosplay's styling: the blue hair paired with the yellow tie was instantly recognizable in the night scenery, giving her a formidable aura. My partner's black stockings and high-heeled leather boots framed her leg lines gorgeously; standing there, her presence was commanding, and I joked that this was why I had to wear flat shoes. In truth, shooting in mid-winter at midnight was freezing and tough. The leather jacket wasn't breathable, making my forehead sweat, so thankfully our support assistant was beside us handing out tissues and water. Because it was dark outside, we joked around by the road, bursting into laughter multiple times while tweaking poses—the experience was super relaxed. Overall, swapping roles allowed me to experience entirely different styling and costume details. Posting a preview here to record the journey—looking forward to the photographer's final photos, and next time we have time, we'll head out to shoot more fun ideas in Arknights!
