[Hoshiguma cosplay] Tactical Majesty of the Lungmen Guard Department

A lot of thought went into recreating the details of this tactical combat styling for Hoshiguma cosplay from Arknights, from concept art to physical reality.

First is the overall texture of the costume. This black-and-gray tactical uniform utilizes wear-resistant techwear fabrics, with shoulder straps and waist cinching preserving a sharp combat silhouette. The high-top tactical boots paired with thick, rigid knee pads at the knees have substantial physical heft; though noticeably heavy to wear, this very weight brings it closer to the everyday duty state of an operator from the Lungmen Guard Department. For the wig, I chose cool-toned dark green straight long hair; the iconic streak of white highlight and the sharp white horn ornament on top serve as the soul of the look. Ensuring the horn accessory remained firmly anchored during shooting took quite a few specialized fixing tricks.

For this shoot, we deliberately chose a nighttime or semi-outdoor black steel metallic staircase setting. The diamond-plate anti-slip treads and the rugged black metal railings on both sides harmonized seamlessly with Hoshiguma's character disposition. In terms of light and shadow, we abandoned conventional warm tones and boldly utilized expansive cool cyan washes for atmospheric rendering. This cold, dim ambient light effectively tempered the sharp contrast of the black garments, imbuing the scene with a solemn, composed, and stealthy Lungmen alleyway ambiance.

Throughout the shooting process, I focused on capturing her dual traits of being both vigorously decisive and steadfastly reliable. In Photo 1, leaning against the railing with a slight tilt of the body and relaxing the right arm cultivated a sense of routine patrolling and effortless composure; in Photo 2, sitting on the steps introduced a focused intensity of combat-ready duty with an unwavering gaze. Under cool lighting, controlling the defined contours of facial expressions to prevent softer features from diluting the sense of power was my personal insight into faithfully portraying this character in Tactical style cosplay.

Although putting on and taking off this Cosplay outfit is cumbersome, once standing firmly on the staircase, one's posture and aura are naturally elevated by the costume and setting. The wind was quite strong during shooting; the cold breeze lifting the tips of the wig actually added dynamic motion and authenticity to the frame. Post-processing did not rely on excessive artificial retouching, preserving the reflective sheen of the metal railings and the crisp, rugged lines of the steps to deliver an unfiltered, on-site presence—which is why I treasure these photoshoot results so much. Continuously balancing hardcore aesthetics with personal character fidelity in everyday practice is a deeply meaningful endeavor in my ongoing cosplay journey.
